Since anything is better than addressing Xmas cards, here is my tattoo removal. I got a tattoo of black wings on my back at 14. At 17 my mother discovered it and freaked out. She forced me to have it removed. The lasering was performed at the Penn by a dermatologist. It was horrible. The removal process itself was very painful and it hurt for days afterward to the point where I couldn't sleep. After several sessions, I used a bleaching cream on it. The cream made me very itchy. It's been over a decade since I had it removed and maybe one person has noticed the shadow of the tattoo on my back. I took the best pictures I could, but there's really not very much to see. (I promise my bra fits, I was just laying on my back for a while before I took the picture)

I don't have any before pictures. This was in the dark ages before digital cameras and smart phones. I forgot to mention that, despite my age, it was a professional tattoo done in a shop. This was pre-9/11 when you could still buy a fake id pretty easily. But no one at the shop even asked.
eta: My body has changed so much since I was 14 and even by the time I was 17 the placement was wrong because I had grown. I wish I had a before picture. I just looked on UPenn's website to see if I could find the doctor who did it. But it looks like it's not even a procedure they offer anymore?

It does look really well done, I wouldn't have noticed the shadows if I wasn't looking for them. Do you have any raised scarring? I got one tiny dot from mine.

I only notice anything at all in the last picture! I'm really impressed with how well it healed.

I was honestly struggling to see where the shadow of the tattoo was, that looks like a very good result!

About 8 or so years ago a piecer asked me if it was a white tattoo. I think at that time the scaring was more noticeable. She's the only person I remember ever commenting on them. I was maybe 2 years from the last treatment at that point. I had the treatments over the course of 4 or 5 years. Not surprisingly during that time my mom and I stopped speaking which makes it awkward to get someone to pay for a painful, expensive procedure that you didn't really want in the first place.

I seriously thought for a second that those angel wings looked a lot like bra straps. That is a really amazing result, but it sounds like it was horrific to go through . Same as chemicalburn, I thank you for posting this. I'm considering removal and all stories are really helpful,
