Hello! Can we talk about this? What made you get it/not get it, who did you go to, what do you like/hate about it?
I love the center piercing i have in my tonguetip, and a split never tempted me too much. But then my colleague told me she can blow 2 bubbles at once, and that it is amazing to lick on 2 different ice at the same time i was suddenly sold. So now i guess it has to be done, and i am curious about other experiences, top brainfucks and other things that is fun to know.
Also pictures is good! I would love to see how deep peoples splits are, and how pointy the tips get.
I would love to get opinions from all perspectives, so there is no need to have it done yourself. If you have a friend who told you something, or have thought about it and concluded it was not for you it is still interesting for me:)

my old boss got her tongue split by samppa when i was still working for her. watching the split, the actual procedure looked incredibly easy, even with her getting her lingual frenulum cut at the same time. she did not enjoy the healing.
from what i know, she had an undesirable amount of regrowth and is looking to get it split a second time. she had a bit of a lisp for a hot minute, but i think it eventually went away. other than that, i know she loves it! hers was done cut & suture and the ends have a more round, natural tongue-y appearance.

My bifurication is still my favorite mod! Best mod decision I ever made, especially to have it done by Samppa. I actually had it re-cut a year later and it still grew back a bit more again. It's most likely all my own fault, though, because I didn't take the time to manually pull the two sides apart during healing. It was a bit too painful, so I avoided tugging too much, and then it regrew a little. I do think I'm lucky, though, because my split is definitely a good depth even considering the regrowth. I wish I could move the two sides as independently as I see others do. I can spread the two tongues apart easily and can clap them together and I can twist the left side over the right, but not the other way around. For some reason, I can't twist the right side over the left. :[ It's okay, though. I'm still happy as hell to have a split tongue in general.

I'm curious if anyone can get a shallow tongue split and still keep their tongue piercing if they hand one...
And I've heard it's very discreet? Is that true?

I think discretion depends person to person because people's mouth/tongue shapes and sizes all differ. For me, no one has ever noticed my tongue split unless I showed them. I've never had anyone react or ask if it's split even while they sat with me while I ate food. Because I have an overbite, my two front teeth cover my tongue when I speak normally.
During the first 3-4 weeks, I had a prominent lisp that was easy to hear and people would want to ask "what's up with your mouth?" and at my job at the time, I'd just say I recently had an "oral procedure" done so there were stitches in my mouth. Luckily, I didn't have to be on the phone often for that job. NOW, I'm working a job that is literally being on the phone all day, so healing would require time off.

no one has ever noticed my tongue split unless I showed them 100% this. I forget you have it when I see you! Actually that seems to be the case for almost everyone I know with a split.

I've always thought it was an awesome mod, but I personally could never have it done. This is gonna sound weird and probably not make much sense, but since it reminds me to much of a surgical procedure I can't go anywhere near it. I'm severely phobic of surgery. So that's always stopped me from ever considering it. But, I do admire them on other people greatly <3.

I'd love to, but it's just one of those things I don't feel strongly enough about to spend the money, effort and healing process. It's so cool though, like who wouldn't?

I feel pretty much the same way. They're cool and if I could just wake up in the morning with one I'd do it, but the pain, the healing, the money, etc.. It's a lot for something I don't have my heart set on.

The biggest downside I've heard, which has already been mentioned above, is that it's not a one-and-done procedure. The people I know with it all have had to have their tongues re-cut once or even twice.
Those I know are all happy with their splits, but I am curious, have any of you heard of someone retiring a tongue split? Can they sew it back together, or is that not possible, and the mod is permanent?

And considering the way the tongue heals it will want to grow back together and it makes reversals easier than any other reversal. I know from a medical standpoint if you scrape off the scar tissue the wound is more likely to close because of the proximity and new tissue being formed. And tongue/oral sutures heal fast and don't heal with gaps unless there's jewelry or something stopping it. I don't think it's as permanent as cutting you pinky off. And in fact google tells me people do get it but most people who get it like it too much to reverse it. Anybody gonna second that? Dammit why can I just have a short and sweet thing to say IM SORRY FOR WORD WALLS :'[

I am still very happy with my tonguesplit and am getting it resplit again (second resplit) next year because it has grown close a lot more again. Healingwise was very easy for me and I was able to nom a lot of things shortly after (same with my tonguepiercing before) Unfortunatly I barely have any control over my tongue (was already like that before). I can spread the halves, cross the halves but I can't "clap" or something like that.. which is really sad

So it's possible to get it retired, but I doubt many people would care enough to get it sewn up
