I started going to the gym on January 13th, and not because of a New Year's resolution either. At the age of 46, weighting 245 pounds, and dealing with type 2 diabetes and menopause, I finally got it through my thick skull that I needed to get my health under some sort of control before I end up dead. I go at least three times a week, usually after work because my gym is in the same mall I work at. And I'm already noticing positive changes! My weight itself has not really changed all that much but my measurements have. My clothes fit better, and my feet have actually shrunk (which was bizarre but it does apparently happen). And my energy and mental health have all improved too! My diabetes is even starting to finally get more under control as well because with meds and diet my A1C levels were still stupidly high - I'm finally getting blood sugar results in the acceptable range for the first time in over a year, and that's with the maximum dosage of metformin and the addition of gliclazide a few months ago. So I'm feeling pretty good about myself even though I'm nowhere near my fitness goals, but that will come in time! Way to go! Very happy for you - and yes, weight loss is not the only status indicator as you can see. So many benefits arise from just being active! I've read many stories about people reversing diabetes from simple exercise and diet changes. Keep it going!!

Not body change related per se, but sports stuff... One of the fun things about wearable tech is all the geeky graphs and stats it can teach you about your fitness. Your peak oxygen usage and power, step counts, calories burnt, speed, progress over time, and so on. And then there's this. The graphs attached are from two recent runs (yesterday at the Canberra half marathon, and a few weeks ago random long run Sunday). They show cadence in steps per minute. Pretty consistent around 170spm (green zone), which shows ok form, although I could stand to pick it up a little as it may indicate overstriding. My form looks better on race day as I have more sections up around the 180spm range (blue zone). Cool. The purple dots show spots where my cadence picked up. The songs which were playing at the time were Focus by Hocus Pocus (Canberra) and I'm So Excited by the Pointer Sisters (other graph). Apparently these are my perfect running songs.

My new PCP recommended me trying nutritionist counseling, and I had my first appointment yesterday. She wasn't totally against the keto diet, which I'm mostly following, but did encourage me to add more variety to my diet and not to be afraid of things like naturally occurring sugars (like in fruit or cows milk) and suggested I introduce more good carbs/starch to my diet as well as reducing my protein portion sizes.
I want to eat things like oatmeal, yogurt, bananas. So I'm willing to try it, as long as I watch the portions and don't start binging on fast food and stuff, I think it will be OK and I'll continue to lose weight. I've lost 25lbs since January which is great, but I need to lose 50 more lbs to even get under 200.

I signed up for a spinning class and I'm both excited and mortified. My anxiety has always prevented me from doing a group fitness class even though I've always wanted to. My husband signed up with me which makes it a little less scary, and I'm hoping once I get over my initial fear I can try more classes by myself too. This one is only 1x/week which is good for now because I'm still pretty out of shape, but I can't wait! I'm trying to do some type of activity every day, but it's getting too hot to walk the dogs (they are getting older and overheat at like 1/2 mile) and the gym so so boring.

I started using My Fitness Pal to track my calories in the middle of September. Both me and my husband have been trying to watch what we eat and be more active cos I'm reeeally tired of being fat. I've been pretty good with staying under the 1490 calories a day it gives me (even though a lot of what I eat is still junk, just less of it), maybe only had a few days here and there where we went out to eat and I'm sure I went over. Weighed myself this morning and I'm currently 199.6lbs. This is probably the first time I've been under 200lbs in years. I'm very excited.

Since maybe a month? Into corvid, I've lost 10lbs! 😁
I've been unhappy with my body since i was ~12, always been chubby. Tried multiple ways of losing weight but with no luck - a mix of living seperately from my parents and therapy is what i think has done it. I've learned a lot of things about how my brain works, which i wont go into rn, but I've definitely started getting my comfort eating under control.
Need to lose another 30-40lbs to be happy/healthy, but still! Step in the right direction. Mostly been calorie counting, very loose IF, and learning to distinguish actual hunger/boredom/emotional hunger/actually just thirst in disguise
