You can tone it to something that works well on your skintone... but I think silver hair looks great on everyone! I say do it!! If you were closer to me I'd totally help you!

I've been playing with the idea of dyeing my hair a silver shade but I'm so nervous about bleaching it and that the color would be all wrongood for me. don't do all of it. i think it will make you look old. ombre though, your current color with silver at the tips... do that. also safer since if you bleach-destroy the hair, you can just trim it off.

I was thinking like a steel kind of color, I really like colors like Manic Panic's Blue Steel. And lish (I can't figure out multiple quoting on mobile yet) I had considered doing ombre now that my hair is longer. That'd probably be the better option at this point.

haha i hear you sistah. my longest dreads are past my calves now & i roll over on them a dozen times each night. still too much fun to prune back. Just thinking about sleeping with my hair loose makes me itchy. I can't go without my satin sleep cap, it's the best thing ever.

I wish I could, my dogs sleep in the bed with me and like to burrow in my pillows/hair though. It must be contained!

Now that I have more greys and my hair is getting lighter I've been looking to start dyeing it purple regularly since I didn't want to deal with bleach. But I've lost a lot of hair due to health issues so I'm worried it will make my bald spots more prominent. I've been growing it out because I missed having long but now I'm thinking short would be better because of the hair loss. I don't know what to do with my head anymore. :/ Here's my hair thinning, current length, and growth up till this past April. Thoughts?

giochoo Have you tried taking biotin? I take it for my hair and nails because having hypothyroidism makes my hair shed pretty bad and my nails weak. Since I've been on biotin it seems to have helped me with my nails and hair. I actually have some of my thickness back. If not, maybe that's an option?

I've been taking biotin for a long time, combined with my meds the hair loss has stopped. It's just very thin now. What I am trying to decide is if I should continue growing my hair out or trim it shorter to try to hide the thinning. I think I'll go purple either way, I'm just not getting any objective opinions from people in my family because everyone keeps tiptoeing around the fact that I was going bald lol.

I've found that keeping mine short makes it look maybe less thin than when it's longer? Idk because I know my own hair is extremely thin, but I do think it looked worse and even thinner with more length.

In that case, and from looking at your pictures, I think the lengths you had in your September '15 & April '16 look really good and seem to hide the thinning really well.
