Hi,
So after 8 months, I decided to take out my conch piercing and replace it. I thought the hardest part would be removing the captive bead.
It turns out I was able to remove that just fine.
The problem is, I can't take out the ring itself. It keeps going around and around my ear, going back through my piercing, even with the gap where the bead once was. I don't want to aggravate it by twisting and pulling too much. And I can't get the captive bead back in. I realize I might just have to find a professional piercer to help me, but...has anyone else had this problem? If so, did you find a way to get it out on your own?? Is there a certain angle I need to pull it at?
Many thanks from a piercing newbie.

If you don't care about the jewelry, can you use ring openers to open the gap a little? Or maybe even twist the ring? If it's a tight fitting ring it might be too difficult to do yourself.

what gauge is it? 14 & smaller are usually annealed so you can bend them with your fingers, but 12 starts to get tough to do that & usually needs tools. you can spread a ring or torque/twist it to stop the spinning-through-the-same-hole effect. conches are thick!
but hey, don't hurt yourself over it; most piercers only ask five or ten bucks to remove a ring for you. & it'd probably be free (though you should tip) if you go back to the person who put it there in the first place.
