Hello, my name is poohki and I joined specifically for some tips and advice on removing my surface bar for my vertical bridge (or third eye) piercing. Ive had this in for about 3 year with minimal issues but yesterday I got hit in the face. The point of impact was my nose but my piercing got bumped and was swollen and bleeding a bit. I decided to take it out and went to my piercers. So, she spent 30 minutes trying to remove my bar and she couldn't. Oh my gods, the pain was intense - comparable to childbirth - but enjoyable for masochists like myself but anyway, lol, she told me she couldn't keep trying because it was so swollen by this point and told me to come back in a week. She did not seem very confident that this was going to be an easy task. She said it was so difficult because the posts on the bar are so high that when she tries to push them in to slide it out, the bar hits bone before the post is through the hole. She said after the swelling goes completely aawy, it may be easier but I know I have some scar tissue so I'm worried about how movable and stretchy my skin will be. She also said she would consult with others and see if anyone has ever had any trouble and what they did.... So I am doing the same here! Pls share any experience, advice, tips or whatever that may be helpful on how I can get this bar out without having to wait for migration

My husband is a welder and he suggested cutting one of the posts down with a tool so it can slide out and I'm just like wtf, lol, what do you all have to say about the idea? Haha

Have you looked for an APP certified piercer? I definitely wouldn’t cut the barbell.

photos would be helpful. at this point, i'd agree with waiting a week & seeing how the swelling is. you can use ice & ibuprofen (presuming you have no issues taking it, IANAD) to help in that line, but definitely stop messing with it while it's sore.

Yeah, I definitely have not been messing with it; just been doing saline soaks to get the dried bits off
It's still pretty swollen and bruised from miss lady trying to remove it. I can't really get a good pic by myself with my shite phone but may be the husband can help when he gets home from band practice.
So cutting is a no no. I figured as much. Basically if it doesn't work after swelling has passed my only options are surgically removing or waiting for migration, right? Big nasty scar -.-

we didn't say cutting is a no-no. it's just not your first plan of action. i'm on board with cutting it out IF your husband has the proper tools & a careful hand - but we're net there yet. wait & see how the swelling goes.

Oh, ok, I seee I checked on the APP thing and there are only 6 certified in the whole Dallas fort Worth, texas area and I do not recognize any of them but there are 2 not far from me in Dallas so I plan on reaching out to them after the swelling has gone done. Honestly, now that the intial shock of having something stuck in me has worn off, I don't really give a fuck. I'm prolly just gonna leave it in for as long as it wants to stay in. Thanks for input :3
