Tommy Gargoyle was released from the ER hospital around 11am. He was last home about 5:20pm Tuesday. He's had a really rough day. I'm in the dining room with him for all of it as he's not allowed in the bedroom because he doesn't have strict control over his urethra and bladder after wearing that catheter for a day and a half. The bill turned out to be cheaper than I'd anticipated. He's taking really long times in the box like he did when he had the blockage, but we check when he walks out and it's trickling. So it's working. It's just hard to do.

My dog is super weird about food and treats and bones. He's been like that since I got him so I think the previous owners (that definitely abused him) did something awful to make him afraid of food?
It's always a fight because my cat is a gluttonous asshole. I had to stop free feeding because she would sit there and eat his entire bowl of food in one shot and then barf it up. So then I would just set food out in the morning and evening and eventually he would go eat and she'd be like "FOOD?!?" and butt in and eat it and he'd be too afraid to go in there and eat anymore.
I have a food ball for my cat now, so she has to work for her food and can only eat so much so fast. They both get dinner at night which has been a real challenge, since dog is afraid of plates and all but he'll scoot over, scarf his down and run away. Usually.
I bought nice rib bones for him like 4 months ago and he's FINALLY ACTUALLY CHEWING THEM OH MY GOD ITS A MIRACLE. I don't know why he's been afraid to chew them until now but I'm cheering for his teeth.

Took our little dog to the emergency vet tonight. She's been sick for a few days but got way worse today and we just didn't know whether she'd make it through the night. Idk if we can afford to help her but the vet is sure taking a long time coming back with an estimate. I'm really sad but I think we're going to have to say goodbye to Zoey.

She's gone. Massive kidney stones, bladder stones. Kidney failure.

She's gone. Massive kidney stones, bladder stones. Kidney failure. I'm so sorry. =( It's especially hard when it's all of a sudden like that. I'm calling today to schedule euthanizing one of our dogs at the end of the week. I feel terrible about it because he still has good days and gets excited about food and stuff, but his cognitive issues have gotten really bad and we've reached the point where he's unhappy more often than not. It especially sucks because I'm with the dogs a lot more than my husband is and I don't think he sees the decline as clearly as I do. Chief is definitely more his dog than mine, so it feels like I had to talk him into it. I mean, it's time and I know it's the right thing to do, but I worry that my husband doesn't really agree. So this week it's all ear rubs and fancy hot dinners.

I didn't even pet her before she went. I rode to the vet but it's just hard to get around still. She got a lot of cuddles before she went though and my sister and dad went to be with her. She buried out with our kitties

Thanks everyone. Still hard to open the door to the room she slept in at night and not see her wagging her tail, or hearing her bark at the mail man. No smelly dog cuddles or ear sniffing. I miss her so much.

The silence and the always seeing them out of the corner of your eye takes some adjusting to. I'm really sorry you lost a member of your family that way.

It's snowing. Zoey would have loved this ugh. It hasn't snowed in years. I could have taken her for a walk, had a snowball fight with her and my sisters, taken her inside and bundled her up with us. Last time we had a bunch of snow she hopped through it like a bunny
