Hello,I've joined here seeking help. In brief; I had an accident 8 months ago when I put my hand through a pane of glass which took out a sizeable chunk of my non dominant hand index finger. I had a surgery where a graft was taken from my upper arm and a flap of skin was borrowed from the neighbouring finger, which was sewn to the index, then a second surgery to re separate the two. I was scheduled for a third surgery to debulk the index finger, as they over filled it. Since then the tip has been steadily shrinking and there has been atrophy to the tendon. Then Covid hit and the hospital is only performing surgeries deemed life saving. They've informed that they will terminate, read as amputate, the finger when the current crisis has passed. I understand their point, and agree with it, but can't live with the finger until no one knows when so I'm giving much thought to finishing the job myself. Which brings me here. I'm seeking advice on the cleanest and safest way to do this. If anyone here has, for any reason, self-amputated, I'd be grateful for any advice. Many thanks in advance.

I think even if anybody here has self-amputated that they wouldn't be sharing that advice. Why? Because nobody wants to be responsible for any potential extreme harm you could do to yourself. If we provided that information and you ended up bleeding out, and it was discovered that you got the information here, any/all of use could be held liable for it, and that's just not a lawsuit any of us wish to deal with.
My advice to you is to be patient and wait until you can get a medical professional to deal with it properly, rather than perform something incredibly risky on yourself.

Locking this. There's absolutely no way in hell we're going to help you to amputate your own finger. WTF.
