The only movie to have an effect like that on me was The Ring (2002). I saw it in a packed theater at 10:30pm on opening weekend, and while I don't believe in ghosts or that sort of supernatural stuff or whatever, something about the cinematography mixed with the late night mixed with the public response made an impact. I went to the restroom before we left, and my brain actually expected Samara to climb out of the toilet and come at me.
She didn't. 🤭 But it was a very interesting experience to fully anticipate something I definitely didn't believe could happen. I will always appreciate The Ring series for being able to accomplish that.

Mine was also The Ring. I hate scary movies but a friend convinced me to see it with her. I barely slept at all that night. Wizzard of Oz at about age three. Also Return to Oz. Those wheelers and the room full of heads are the stuff of nightmares.

I never saw The Ring or Ringu in theaters but I was scared enough watching on my monitor! The alternative ending of one of the series is in a video store where the tape is sitting on a shelf right next to a copy of Cat Ballou. I have Cat Ballou sitting on the shelf next to me.

Probably The Thing. Definitely one of the best movies I'll never watch again.

Haha, I love weird coincidences. Yep, I've seen all of The Ring and Ringu movies. Personally I only like The Ring and Rings (the one with Johnny Galecki, it was oddly interesting), but I like them enough to see anything new in the series. Probably The Thing. Definitely one of the best movies I'll never watch again. I watched that for the first time with a bunch of work friends just before my trip to Antarctica. 🤭🐕😱🧊
