I have decided I want to go back to school. I filled out and submitted a returning student form to the community college I went to right after high school, hoping to go back in the spring. Ive got to get out of dead end jobs I hate. I really want to do something I love. Community college is such a good option! I loved the college that I went to, and I wouldn't be where I am now academically or employment-wise without it. I hope you're able to find something awesome that you love! I made straight A's my first semester of vet school! This is the best I've done in all my years of higher education. I'm so happy that I could cry! Congratulations!!! That must be such a great feeling!

I checked my grades finally, after putting it off for fear of bad ones. I got one B, two B+s, one A- and one A. Not as great as last semestereply, but I'll take it. I've still got two easy-ish semesters to get my GPA back up.

Had orientation today which was boring as shit. I know we need to go through these things, but it's enough to make you want to fall asleep on a desk. Also, I start class tues. 8am fml. I'm not a morning person at all. I'm thinking coffee is gonna have to become a normal part of my routine.

After a few weeks of feeling powerless trapped at my parents house not being able to focus on my 8000 word's worth of essays, I had my first proper day in the library today and realised I'm never going to be able to wrangle the mess of what I've written so far into something I can be proud of within 3 very busy days. So I went to see my senior tutor and he said it'd be ok for me to get extenuating circumstances. I could've cried. I've been having such a hard time focusing on anything with this round of assignments, over the 41 days I've had a pacemaker plan going, I've only managed to write something on 12 of them. I thank the education gods that my uni's student support services are so good. (everybody doing written assignments should check out pacemaker, it's hands down the reason I managed to get a degree at all)

I was an idiot in my undergrad and didn't use the support services available even when I was having a complete breakdown and literally not leaving my room except to go the the bathroom and occasionally eat for weeks at a time. Eventually when I got my head together enough to care about failing I went to them and got so much help sorting my life out. Use your uni support services if you're having a bad time! Also I've been using a phone app called forest (I think) where you set a length of time to grow a tree and you can't use your phone during that time except to check how Mitch time is left or your tree dies. It's really helpful for me to keep focused.

I think I heard somewhere that my uni's support service is ranked in the top 10 of the country, and I'm so glad! I've dealt with them a lot, with my own needs and managing my partner's repeat year process. Both departments have been lovely and understanding. Ooh! I've heard of that one, I might have to give it a go when I'm back cause my focus is terrible. Another thing that helps me loads is Mendeley. You can upload pdfs onto there and highlight stuff and write little notes everywhere. Its so helpful since I have issues with visual tracking while I'm reading and highlighting makes a world of difference.
