UGH. I'm having shampoo struggles. I have fine hair, but lots of it, so I need shampoo that is moisturizing but not too heavy, since my hair is also short and gets weighed down easily. I need the moisture because the weather is dry right now and my hair goes nuts when it's dry out (static, brittle, blech). I also prefer sulfate free shampoo, but most of the sulfate free brands I've found are pretty expensive (not a deal breaker, but I'd prefer to find a reasonably priced shampoo if I can). The one brand I was using that was mostly decent made my neck break out (OGX coconut water), so I switched back to L'oreal's nourishing sulfate free shampoo, which used to be fine when I had longer hair, but it's too heavy and makes my neck break out worse.

Sorry, just needed to whine a bit. I'm happy to hear suggestions for shampoo if you have them (sulfate free preferred).

Aww thanks so much everyone, there was much blushing and smiles from your compliments. <3
Ashleyj, I use Palmer's shampoo and tres semé conditioner. The Palmer's is usually in the "ethnic" hair isle. It's very moisturizing and not heavy, plus sulfate free, and the tres semé is silicone free. Curls get super dry, I did no-poo for a long time, but desert living demanded a change in my hair care.

Ooo, I might have to try Palmer's shampoo, it looks promising. I just ordered some Verb shampoo and conditioner to try, so if that ends up being a bust I'll have to check it out. Thanks!

i did the math and i'm right around 3 weeks doing water-only for my hair. i feel like i'm *starting* to see the end of the tunnel, but i don't want to jinx myself. i was using my boar bristle brush last night and afterwards my hair felt clean enough that i didn't feel like i needed to do a wash, even though i usually would. i'm going to try to start stretching out the time between washes. and i noticed for the first time how silky-smooth my hair is getting! it still doesn't look that great, but i'm getting there lol

If you're looking for a darker blue give Arctic Fox a try. I haven't used their blue but their purple is one of the best I've used.

i was going for a silver/blue combo, the silver just looks greenish and dingy and the blue looks teal

I follow arctic fox on Facebook and their colours are true to the tube for the most part (unless diluted). I use ion for my blue/teal section with decent results. I haven't decided if I want to keep the section yet or not so I haven't dyed it in a long time and while it has faded a lot it didn't fade badly. I'm debating about ordering arctic fox, actually.

So, many hair is naturally auburn, but I have a lot of strawberry blonde highlights, especially around my face. ALl of the light parts of my hair have started going white, noticeably in the last 6 months. Like, WHITE white. All of the other red haired people (all two of them, lol) in my family were fully white by 35.
I'm kind of excited.

that is super exciting! i want white hairs!
my roots are like 3" now and i can't wait to see all my hair that color. i could dye the length to match better, but i'd probably have to bleach the ends again so i'm going to wait until i just physically can't stand it (which is hopefully long enough that i can just cut the darker ends off over time).
oh! and my undercut is ALMOST long enough to keep in a ponytail with the rest of my hair. i can wrangle it in there but it escapes after like ten minutes.
every time someone compliments my hair i look at them like they are crazy.

I LOVE my white hair. It's silver mostly in the front, Elsa Lanchester style, but with big chunks throughout. In the summer it bleaches out which looks pretty mermaidy I must say. The last time I coloured it was maybe two years ago and it looked so fake and dark and weird. I can't wait to have shimmery moon dreadlocks .
