I've been having this urge to go back to an a-line bob. But I've been growing my hair for so long, aside from the occasional few inches chopped off to get rid of split ends once every year or so. Idk. I'd miss the length, but the shorter hair makes me feel so professional and adult.

Im so happy with my haircut! I showed the stylist a couple pictures of what I thought would look good and she took it from there. She loved the shaved side I have too. Yay for shorter hair again! I will try to post I pic later. Phone was being weird yesterday so I couldnt upload anything.

So here is the last picture I have to show how long my hair was. Unfortunately it was from almost 9 months ago so it was actually to my waist at its longest. But as you can see it was scraggly and didn't really have a shape. Here is what it looks like now (minus the curl cuz I let the stylist have a little more fun before I left) And a view of the shaved side that shows how short the back is: I apologize for the sideways pics. I cant figure out how to turn them on my phone.

Lish, how long have you been growing the longest dreads? I haven't had a proper haircut in 14 years and my hair is barely down to my waist.

Lish, how long have you been growing the longest dreads? I haven't had a proper haircut in 14 years and my hair is barely down to my waist. the longest are nine & are nearly to my ankles. hair has a terminal length. your hair will never get longer than your waist because the strand falls out before it can grow that long. with dreads, all the fallen hairs tangle & stay within each lock, so there is no terminal length. in short: dreads can grow forever though the strands comprising them do not.

I haven't had a proper haircut in 14 years and my hair is barely down to my waist. Do you wear your hair down a lot? Try wearing it up as much as possible and you'll probably see some growth. Use something non-damaging like sticks or forks. When I cut to pixie, growing it out to a length where I could tie it up took forever. Now it's longer, I wear it up almost every day and it grows like a weed.

I used to always leave it down, but for the last year or two I've been wearing it up most days. I normally use scrunchies because I've found that they don't pull at it, but I might try sticks.

On the note of hair ties: I recently switched to those telephone cable hair ties and they are seriously fantastic (waist length hair). No pulling, can wear hair up for hours, very little damage.

I found my first gray hair. My mom has bright white hair that I would have loved to inherit, but she started going gray in her twenties. When I didn't, I assumed I'd get my dad's gunmetal salt-and-pepper look which is much less fun. This first strand is super shiny silver, and I really hope it stays that way. It's like a piece of holiday tinsel!

this is the state of my hair currently! if you didn't know, i started with long dyed black hair with an undercut & now i'm simultaneously trying to grow out my natural color and the undercut. i'm also at right around 1 month of water-only washing (no products at all) & this is after a good brush with my BBB. as soon as my undercut is long enough to easily put into a ponytail (should be in the next few weeks) i'll probably get my hair cut to make up for the length difference, and that should get rid of most of the darkest orange bits.

Your hair looks so soft in that pic. Have you noticed a big difference in texture with no shampoo?
