I want to take advantage of the sale next week from Sephora. We'll see. I can stock up on some stuff I use on a regular basis. I forget who suggested the tarte loose powder but it has lasted a really long time. I'm debating about picking up some eyebrow pencils from nyx or just continuing with the abh one I use now. I have some lipsticks from cp that I'm not sure if I like the colours on me or not. I tried them on once and wasn't too impressed.

I have been so unmotivated with makeup lately it's very sad. I got an ulta giftcard from my sister for my birthday and I have no idea what I want to get at all.

Thanks, Ann I want to take advantage of the Sephora sale too but I'm not sure what to get. I was hoping to shop in person but I don't think I'll make it to the big store before the sale ends.

I need a makeup opinion. I have hooded eyes and I am finally ready to admit that eyeliner makes my eyes look smaller. I've been watching videos on how to minimize that and shadow looks like the obvious way to go. Do you guys recommend a reasonably priced palette to experiment with? Or should I get a few shadows from Color Pop or something? I have really, really liked the UD Naked Basics palette I use it more or less every day and most of the shades are matte which works well for hooded eyes. I like using the shimmer color in the corners of my eyes and sometimes a little on the brow bone. The dark almost black brown in the palette is really great to use sort of as tight lining or to make a matte, soft line along the top lashline and "outer v" as they sometimes call it in tutorials. That will imo keep the eyelid from looking too small and instead open the eye up. But I would think that the KvD Shade&Light Eye palette is really great as well, would love that myself but have to wait with making it a reality. I really love the ABH Modern Renaissance palette but I have only used it 3 times so far and twice making rusty red eyes but I reckon you could make something more neutral with that if you'd like too! Different topic (?): I got the Lime Crime Venus palette for my birthday and I can't get over how awesome those shadows are, the Aura-color that is described as a "glow" definitely is more glowy than any shimmer shades I've ever used before. Aww yiss. I also got a Velvetine in the color Wicked (dark, vampy red) and an eyeliner in the discontinued color Citreuse (lime green/yellow) or whatever it was. They are all super great in my opinion, but I understand there's a lot of controversy surrounding the brand. Still, I can't help but feel like I need the Venus II-palette and a few more Velvetines, they really are awesome quality.

This may sound weird, but my non-binary kid has come to me to ask about make-up...and I've got no clue where to even start. I'm thinking inexpensive, neutral pallets while they learn how to apply makeup, and then booking them a makeover at Sephora. But does anybody have any ideas they care to throw my way? My kid is 24, so there's no worry about dealing with the assholes at school, thankfully.

Thanks guy So right now I am looking at the naked2 basics palette to get started. It seems to have colors I think I can work with and is cheaper than a full one. I picked up some It brushes from ULTA but the shadow liner one still feels kinda too fluffy and not dense enough but that could be me being inexperienced. Do any of you recommend a brush?

I just bought an eyebrow dying kit. Wish me luck LOL Thanks guy So right now I am looking at the naked2 basics palette to get started. Can you buy "Makeup Academy" in the US? Because their Undressed palette is a dupe for Naked and Undress Me Too for Naked2. They're SO cheap and really good quality (I have both).

kirsty, I'm not sure, I'll have to check. Bonnie, you could start by having them watch some YouTube videos and figure out where they want to start. That is what I did anyway. I figured out how to get my foundation right, then brows, and now I'm trying to figure out eye looks other than just liner. The Sephora makeover is a good idea, too. They also give out samples and can show them how to use certain products and can color match their skin for foundation colors and stuff.

I've been trying to choose between two Lancome mascaras (Volume-a-Porter and Doll Eyes) for a while, so I bought a set of minis to help me pick and I still like both :/ Kinda leaning towards Volume-a-Porter though.
I thought it was just a set of three minis, I didn't realise it included a full sized Hypnose as well. It's not my favourite from the set but it definitely works well enough that I won't replace it straight away.

Justine, I don't know why I didn't think of going to Youtube for makeup lessons. I'm going to suggest that to them, and I think for Christmas I'm going to buy them a good set of brushes and sponges - I have a decent set of my own, but sharing? Yeah, not a good idea. I don't know who is more excited about this - me or Kris (my kid)!

That is essentially the base of things and you want makeup to not look like a mask. Also, wet n wild's Comfort Zone 8 eyeshadow palette is a good inexpensive starter palette.

What do you guys use to wash your brushes? I've been able to get away with using baby shampoo for the majority of them and Beauty Blender solid cleanser for the ones that have cream products on them, but I'm almost out of the solid cleanser and don't necessarily want to repurchase if there's something better out there.
