I like being able to like posts which for some reason I've really never seen anywhere. I hope every thumb makes someone a little happier inside

we had the last class in a practical course in school today (nursing), whick included a bunch of interesting procedures like injections, blood samples, wound vacuum therapy and the like. in all our practical courses i use to be the one who understands immediately, learns fast and end up showing and helping others with our exercises. last week i tried to place an i.v. cannula on one of my class mates and failed. i immediately became so heartbroken and disappointed in myself that i stayed at school afterward just so i wouldn't have to go home with the shame. i went home an hour later and cried pn the couch, slept 15 minutes and then moped the rest of the evening (i take my own failures incredibly hard, i am much more rational and understanding with others). today i decided that i would try again. so i practiced the technique on the prop-hands until i felt confident and then tried on another class mate (who later did super well on me too!) and lo and behold: flawless insertion technique and no hand shakies, painless and clean and my teacher was impressed i redeemed my status (and confidence) i couldn't help but glow for the rest of the day. i overcame something i was ready to avoid and that i've felt bad for since last week. amazing.

I got a solid 80% on my health class exam and an 86% on my geology exam. Pretty happy with it. Also pretty sure I aced my jewelry and metals class.

My husband told me a few years ago about his most treasured childhood toy that was lost when he moved to the USA. I found and purchased the same plush after much digging, and am planning on giving it to him for Christmas. I'm so excited for him to see it again, I was thinking of making the gift from our daughter instead of from me.

The operations manager at my work sent an email to the CEO thanking a bunch of us in the office who help out frequently. It's nice to be appreciated.

Super productive today. My place is half the size of the last so I've still been working my Tetris magic. I went through the shelf in my closet and condensed two boxes to one and recycled some stuff I don't need, have a bag of clothes to donate. Two loads of laundry, fully cleaned the bathroom (even the dusty fan cover on the ceiling), cleaned the windows, pulled the fridge out and vacuumed behind it, vacuumed all the things, cleaned more gunk left by the gross previous tenant. All dishes are done. Now I'm going to give my dog a bath, wrap the Christmas gifts I bought last night and potentially make chili.
I have extra spoons today and I'm making good use of it so I can get through the next couple of weeks. And tomorrow I can be a slug.

I giggled when I saw your Tetris reference-- it's exactly how I described reorganizing our small closet.

It's definitely a valuable skill.

It really is! I've gotten quite good at it, too, between living in small apartments and primitive camping.

I'm interstate for two weeks in my favourite place in the world. The food is mindblogglingly good, almost all locally grown (like within an hour of the city) and I got to eat caramel cheesecake and buy chipotle chilis an American guy grows in his backyard and dries for his store. I love love love smaller town food scenes.

there's a new cult movie theater/video rental store like 5 min from my house. they had a grand opening tonight so we went and watched inglourious basterds and had moon pies there. it was pretty friggin impressive for a DIY thing! tallahassee doesn't have too much cool stuff, and most of the cool stuff we DO have gets ruined by college kids (i say this as an angry local in a college town) so i'm pretty stoked!

I feel like I'm getting more stuff done than usual today. My kid got sick last night which added 4 extra loads of laundry but those are almost done so I can start what I had planned for today. Feels nice to have what has to be done almost complete so I can relax for a bit.

I recently moved out of an unnecessarily expensive, loud as fuck apartment complex into a little duplex in a nice, quiet neighborhood. I love it here so much - I'm not woken up nightly by the child that lived above us running around anymore, we have a yard for the puppy, and the neighbors are SO nice. I am so happy here.
Our neighbors took my boyfriend and I to a cafe nearby yesterday with their little 3 year old girl. I'm not a kid person really, I don't know how to talk to children and just get kind of uncomfortable. But this little girl was so cute and well behaved. She smiled every time I smiled at her, and kept asking for all the fruit off of my plate. It was really sweet.

I had a whitehead in the corner of my nose and I finally got it out yesterday. It was super satisfying. It made me happy.
