Petra - no, I'm a freaky indoor type so it doesn't get a lot of sun. When I get burnt or tanned (rarely), the skin darkens and it becomes more visible which is really cool. It's almost invisible normally, so it's like a scar or birthmark, which was exactly the effect I wanted. I'm really excited to see how yours develops because I'm going to try a more sun-prone spot eventually. The creepy grey stage is fun!

we aren't finished with this yet, but i want to post because i can't fucking contain myself. my roomie has been fixing up the tattoos on my arm that my former employer did, and i can't handle how much better they look already. :\ just comparing his "black" to her black makes me laugh. (in this picture the owl & tree are healed, the black in the bat is fresh) for the bat we did a session of white first, and then started on the black. we have to finish up the black and then we're gonna do another round of white, and potentially some more black after that. i seriously could cry over how much happier i am already. OMG i love the eensy bat!

I did my first leg tattoo yesterday and man, that shit was hurt. I really didn't know that leg tattoos hurt more than arm tattoos.
However the tattoo wasn't so painful after I got it done, unlike arm tattoos. So yeah.

Fresh Tommy Gargoyle prints back when I had short hair and before I stretched my ear lobes. It's settled in a dark grey, even after the 30 day touchup. It burned like mad hell.

However the tattoo wasn't so painful after I got it done, unlike arm tattoos. So yeah. This is interesting to me since my only tattoo is on my leg and I found it quite bearable. I imagine I'd have more trouble with getting the back of my thighs or shin area tattooed though... Speaking of, I might as well post this here. From when it was first done. It honestly doesn't look much different. Image is a bit small, but the other option was super huge...

jessamine, I just saw your posts on BAF and signature. How old is your white tattoo? How well has it held up? I'd love to know more about a white tattoo in place that gets sun.

It is now a couple of years old. It wasn't the best performed piece ever, I think it wasn't done deep enough when I compare it to the white parts of my newer tattoo done by a real expert which are a stark white almost 1 year later (the girl who did my wrists was an apprentice but I have a sweet spot for donating my body to women apprentices for small pieces). It looks the same now as compared to when it was first healed and is fairly subtle, it looks a bit more like a scar which is actually the effect I wanted but probably not what others would want and if done by someone better it would be much clearer. White is good on me because I am very fair skinned so no yellow skin pigment comes through, also because I'm so fair skinned my tattoos do not get much sun.

Okay, I have a question. My skin is very prone to hyper-pigmentation; how would that effect a tattoo?

Okay, I have a question. My skin is very prone to hyper-pigmentation; how would that effect a tattoo? what triggers the hyperpigmentation? does it happen every time you have a wound? a cut? a scrape? a tattoo is a precision abrasion. if you've had an abrasion & it's caused hyperpigmentation, it will probably do the same above tattoo inks in your skin.
