My next weekend off is going to be a cleaning spree. Need ro take down and reorganize all our holiday decor. Also have a couple totes of stuff still packed from when I though we were moving this summer that need gone through. I'm just tired of coming home to clutter. So far I have gone through a suitcase of clothing I hadn't been in since last April-ish. Got rid of a lot of those items. Some my sister can use but the majority will be going to a second hand store. Also got a box of miscellaneous bathroom closet items sorted and the closet more organized. Tomorrow will be the actual cleaning day. All I got done today was a load of towels and a failed attempt to clean the shower curtain haha. Wish I had gotten more done but we had unexpected company and I feel kinda bad running the vacuum and being loud when we have guests =/

I have finally reclaimed my desk from the clutter monster that had been living on/in it for the past year! There are still some things to go through, but for the first time in ages I'm able to actually sit at it and use my laptop

I got the screw-in cable ties in place and they are great. It's so nice having things in order and staying that way.
My city started doing a clothes recycling program a bit ago and I finally got around to looking into it. I filled up the two initial bags they provided and am looking forward to getting rid of a lot more.

Past 2 days I went through our glasses and tupperware! organized the messy tupperware drawer, matched lids to bottoms and threw anything away that didn't have a mate.

I spent Saturday cleaning my linen closet. I completely removed EVERYTHING from the closet and went through every item instead of trying to just organize it back in. I ended up with 4 trash bags of old sheets/blankets to donate (including quite a few flat sheets and bed skirts because we just don't use them) to donate to the animal shelter, plus three bags of curtains/fabric that got donated to a local art teacher. All remaining sheets/pillow cases are sorted in the laundry sorter, and sheets/pillowcases for the kiddo's bed are stored separately where they can actually be located. I am going to remove the hanging basket of winter gear and replace with a different organizer (I have one in another closet) but probably not until next weekend. I didn't think to take a before picture before I started, but here's the after. It doesn't look like much, but I could barely open the door before and there was tons of stuff on the floor and just stuffed everywhere. And donation bags! I also cleaned off my desk yesterday which was badly needed. Our office is BADLY in need of a deep clean and organization, which we're going to be working on over the next couple of weeks. I mentioned in another thread, but my husband and I are both going to be working from home full time starting in June. I really need to clean out the closet in our office - it holds my gun safe (which I would badly like to move, but I have no idea where to put it), plus a lot of other "I don't know what to do with this" type of stuff that is just crammed around the safe. I can't access the safe without moving a bunch of stuff, so it's not ideal at all. I'm guessing I can donate at least 25% of the crap that's in there. Additionally, I store my craft supplies in our office and my bookcase/storage area is a total disaster.

I got some big things done lately. I'm on one of my final frontiers upstairs - our clothes/storage room. There was an elliptical in there taking up a huge amount of space and it's something we never used (old room mate amicably left it when they moved cross-country which was well before I lived here). I convinced my wife that we should put it road-side with a FREE sign on it and that I would take care of posting a notice on Craigslist, too. She thought she'd end up having to call our waste disposal company for a large item tag, but it was gone within the two hours we were out shopping lol.
That room is still messy as heck, but at least there's space to move around now.
I'm going to get some of those wire cube storage things to re-do my clothing storage since I ran out of space and have a pile of stuff that I wear regularly that doesn't fit anywhere. I think there's stuff to donate/recycle in the pile, too. This room is like a magnet for clutter and I want to get it sorted out.

I'm feeling so overwhelmed about our office clean out. There is SO MUCH to do and I can't seem to find the time. I went straight home from work yesterday and worked on the closet for two hours and threw away 4 bags of junk, plus donated a huge fabric stash to the girl scouts. It doesn't even look like that big of a dent I have some things I just don't know what to do with. High school diploma in fancy case? Do people keep these forever? Also have high school trophy/medals from clubs that I can't seem to part with but don't really want to keep. Maybe I will put a "time capsule" type thing in the attic to forget about when we move someday.

I would keep the diploma. I swear I brought my UK school records with me when I moved and I have NO clue where they are now. I feel like that kind of thing might come up when applying for jobs or something one day down the road?

I've never even been asked for my college diploma, which I always think is strange. Maybe I could take the diploma out of the ~fancy case~ (it looks like this) and just keep it in my filing bin of important things (birth certificate, house closing documents, etc.)

The last round of stuff I got rid of: "Helping": Start of getting clothes sorted out. I ran out of cubes.: I'm thinking I might want to put in some kind of bins for the ones that are just a jumble of small things, but low bins so they can still just be reached-into. I kind of want to put a net in the very corner and put a Snorlax plush or something up there for a decoration. The whole rest of the room is a clutter disaster, I need to work on clearing it out now that I shoved everything out of my way to do this. I've never even been asked for my college diploma, which I always think is strange. Maybe I could take the diploma out of the ~fancy case~ (it looks like this) and just keep it in my filing bin of important things (birth certificate, house closing documents, etc.) Yeah, that's what I'd do. I'm not actually sure where mine is, but I've got everything else (college diploma, other certificates) I have in a just a thin folder.

Kelley I think we have the same kitty haha. Mine likes to "help" as well.
Cleaning and sorting weekend again for me. We have boxes of random things piled up by the door again. I need to make another purse since mine ripped apart this week so I may as well go through my fabric while I'm at it.

Spent most of Saturday purging the office. I didn't realize until it was too late that some of the before pictures are blurry af but you get the idea. Going around the room starting at the door: My desk area - my desk is kindof a dumping ground for shit I don't have a permanent space for, or projects I'm working on. I don't really ever sit at the desk unless I am working from home or sewing, which is very rare. Brandon's desk, directly behind mine Other side of the room The dreaded book case Other corner and second litter box - note the cat litter FUCKING EVERYWHERE As much of the closet as I could get open aaaaaaaaaaaand after: My desk area - after cleaning everything off and evaluating the space, I decided I need a bigger desk. My remote setup is going to have at least two monitors (maybe three if I can figure out how to connect a third), plus laptop with docking station. I also want a high-back chair that will be more comfortable for longer periods of time. Book case moved to the corner and decluttered. The colorful vases on top I am probably selling, but the large vase came from the chapel we got married in and I won't part with it, but I'm not sure where to put it long term. It's living here for now. Another view, plus temporary cat tree blocking the window. Olive has been perched here since I moved it. Brandon's new desk - he wanted a space where he could have his gaming PC separate from his work PC. The work stuff will be going on the left side where the laptop is sitting now. He's going to have 5 monitors total once it's complete, but this way we don't have to buy any DVI switches and there will be separation between work and non-work. Other corner - the white table I think we will be selling, and putting the cat tree in that spot. I also need to move that poster to my side of the room, but I ran out of energy. And the closet - The shelf is bowing, we're planning on replacing it in the near future along with the one in Kaeden's room. But the stuff on top of the shelf isn't too heavy, so it's not an immediate problem. Other side of closet - Brandon had the idea to take the doors off the closet and I fought it at first because I didn't want the safe to be so easily visible, but he really wanted to try moving one of the boxes to the closet. I played around with a few things and once I figured out I could fit the safe sideways, I loved it. I do have to move the box to get in to the safe, but it's nothing compared to how it was before. The safe is tucked just enough behind the wall so that you can't see it unless you are on that side of the room, and you can't view it from the street if we have the window open.

my room is finally at a sustainable, comfy, 100% level of cleanliness for the first time since we moved in. :')
it's amazing. we spend so much more time in here now.
i can't wait til our roommate moves out and we're able to do the same with the rest of the house (she has more stuff than my bf & i combined plus most of the general dirtiness is cat hair and litter so trying to keep it relatively clean and uncluttered is like fighting someone else's ongoing battle)
