My apartment *was* organized, but then I started working on Christmas stuff and now it's like my fabric stash exploded all over the front room.

I went through my linen closet the other day, go rid of all the flat sheets, and pillow cases I never use. And decided to finally ditch the large hand made fleece blanket. I did use it a bit a coule of years ago, but I have so many blankets, and it just had a wierd cat pattern on it.

I never use them on our king sized bed, my step kid doesn't use them on his bed, but I have one for every sheet set I own (maybe 10 of them?!) It's one of those things I feel like I should keep ~just because~ but they don't have a practical use in my house. I may keep one tucked away for the guest bed, but I think the rest are going to the animal shelter.

I had probably like 10 of them, 8 of which was for a double bed, which I don't even have that size anymore. I think I was keeping them for like, if I need a solid backdrop for photos, or if I had to throw it on my couch. I realized I hadn't used a single one in years, and just tossed em into a bin finally to give them to an animal rescue too.

So I kept putting off doing a closet clear out because I was like, "I want to do it all at once; I want to wait until everything is clean and put away and then just do a massive clear out" but that meant that it just never got done. I was putting laundry away today and was like, ok, let's just go.
I pulled out about 20 pieces to either definitely try to sell/donate and a few to think about.
But here's the thing: how do y'all convince yourself to get rid of clothes you don't wear but have some sort sentimentality about? I had 3 navy cardigans. I never wear navy but these cardigans have survived at least 3 clear outs. They're just cute and I want to love them but I never wear them but getting rid of them seems wrong. What do?

I need to get someone over here to basically just tell me to do things. My house isn’t awful... but I STILL haven’t unpacked my craft room and now I have an old desk just sitting in the middle of the floor in there taking up space.

Try to wear one to work this week. See what you think. If you like it keep them and see if you add them to the rotation. If not, put them in a donate/sell bag and DO NOT pull them out. I have to get stuff out of the house as soon as I decide to get rid of it so I don’t talk myself into keeping it

What do? 1. accept that if you haven't worn it in a year, you're not going to. as cute as they may be, you don't want to wear them. 2. offer them to friends instead of good will. might help you let go to see it on someone else who's grateful & happy to wear it.

Maybe try to just get rid of one at a time? When I started dating my partner he had like 7 pairs of blue plaid shorts. He got rid of like 3 or 4 pairs, and then slowly over the year the other 3 left too

I have a stash of fabric dyes for this exact reason. That and I like all my blacks to match so I dye things in one big batch once every few months to freshen old pieces up.

I think a combination of these two are how I have to go. The patterned ones need to go to a good home (anyone want a swans or foxes navy cardigan?) and the more lightweight one can probably go black.

My next weekend off is going to be a cleaning spree. Need ro take down and reorganize all our holiday decor. Also have a couple totes of stuff still packed from when I though we were moving this summer that need gone through. I'm just tired of coming home to clutter.

All my adhesive cable-clips that were holding any weight have utterly failed. I got some that will screw in to the desk and I hope that is going to be the end of that.
I've been keeping everything minimal and tidy and the cable mess is so ugly and slightly sticky with the clips hanging off in places.
Hoping to clear out a big elliptical machine from where it has been unused and taking up space in a room that is already crowded. I want to get that room cleared out a bit, it's a sticking point for things that are on their way out.
