Brit- I can get you my doctors info. She may be willing to do it, or guide you to someone who will. Let me know if you want it, she is amazing and I'm glad I found her.

An FYI, for anyone worried about ACA being overturned and/or abortion being restricted, AND you don't want kids, as of right now the ACA rules means your insurance has to cover permanent birth control 100%. Tubal ligation, Essure etc, I don't think they cover vasectomy but I might be wrong. Mine cost about $11 total, that was just for the vicodin and motrin prescriptions I didn't really need. Not permanent bc, but my iud is going to cost nothing thanks to insurance, and thank fuck it's going to last 5 years, so I won't need a new one until Trump is out of office.

My Dr recommended one of the hormonal ones for me because of some issues Ive had with Paragard, mostly the heavy period thigns. She wants to see if my periods are lighter with the Mirena or Skyla since thats been my one complaint... so I need to get on that. Luckily my work covers it 100% right now so I have through next year to get in and do it since our plans are locked in. I guess I can be happy that I have that going for me...

I'm seriously considering trying to get a tubal ligation in the next couple of months. It's always been a future goal, but my husband got a vasectomy (super easily, btw, as an unmarried 22 year old guy with no kids), and I'm on the pill anyway for other reasons, and I figured I'd have more luck lobbying for my own sterility after I turn 35 or so. Now I'm worried it'll be unattainable, or at least unaffordable, very soon. There's a doctor at the clinic I already go to on the childfree reddit list, but he uses Filshie clips, which I don't want. I've also never had surgery of any kind, and that's basically terrifying.

My doctor used Filshie clips but I managed to convince her to cut & burn instead. I told her I wouldn't do the surgery with clips. It was down to the day of surgery and she still hadn't found out if she could do it without. I was prepared to walk out of the hospital if she wouldn't do it. The surgery itself was nothing. Recovery was some gas pain in my upper torso from the CO2, that was about it. No cramps - the nurses in recovery kept asking "Are you sure you don't have cramps? Oh, right, you didn't have the clips." I have one tiny scar inside my navel, that's it.

That's encouraging! I don't understand why she wouldn't know if it could be done without the clips though. Is that not totally up to the doctor?

Yeah, I don't know what was going on with that. Maybe the hospital policy says to use Filshies? Who knows. I totally DID NOT want foreign objects in my uterus that could potentially migrate, when there's an option to do it without. I figured if she wouldn't do it, my insurance company could pay another hospital to do it.

So, I'm late af on this because I didn't find the new boards until tonight. Anyway, I was feeling quite the same way about the election results. I've never cried over an election, but I did on this one. I'm scared myself because I am under the LGBT+ umbrella in a couple of different ways. I'm scared for the minorities who will have to face his bullshit hate and bigotry. I'm also afraid to lose my medical coverage as well. I have so many conditions that have to be controlled through medication, and without them it would mean very bad things for my health/mental health. Weds. I basically spent moping around like somebody died. I don't know. I'm just very uneasy right now.

There's an old man driving around the parking lot at this Kroger in laps playing this loud, opera-esque music. Literally just driving all around the parking lot over and over.
