Husband and I are driving with my sister to grandmas for thanksgiving this year and before my sister came over she messaged me that dad had given her "rules" for her to relay to me since I'm driving her car. No speeding, husband can't smoke in the car, and we have to "go straight to grandmas". Wow, it's almost like living at home again! I wonder when they're going to try to enforce a ridiculous curfew again.

So, I really wanted to go to GenCon 2017. I was excited, but my wife wanted to go with me because it is around our anniversary and she thought it would be fun. I'm always iffy about introducing her to nerd things, because as a group nerds are terrible. I tend to avoid a lot of certain types of nerds.
After reading about women being sexually assaulted at cons, including GenCon (though apparently the leadership is way better than at other cons), and with Trump's presidency emboldening bigots I imagine it will do the same with rapists.
She's said she'd still go since, like, unfortunately we live in a world where there are very few safe spaces and she could get raped anyway and she doesn't want to miss out on stuff because of fear.
But, honestly, knowing me I'd be too distracted/worried about her to have a good time, especially since I get overstimulated easily anyway and GenCon is the biggest RPG con in the US.
So, we're not going to GenCon because men are awful. I debated putting this in the Girly thread because it's patriarchy, but I'm a cis-male so I felt weird about it and posted here instead.

I have seriously considered identifying as gender queer moreso to secede from the male gender but that seems kind of insulting to genderqueer people and also like it might be too NotAllMen-y.
I'm at a point now where I feel like.. I understand why some women hate men, and am honestly OK with it. The thing that bugs me more is those same women tend to see transwomen as men and uggggghhhhh. Haaaatte.

I'm surrounded by people snoring like trains and chainsaws... if I fall asleep before the noise I'm good, if not I can't sleep. On top of that I can't move because I have a cat on one side and my friend is in the middle of the bed, with her legs even closer to me, if I try to cover my ears I feel claustrophobic and the only place open to get ear plugs is a walmart... and with it being Black Friday I'm not going anywhere near that mess. Every time one person calms the snoring someone else gets louder. There are 6 of us in what is essentially one giant room- no escape.

My back is hurting so much I seriously think I might throw up. It just keeps getting worse and worse. I should have been asleep two hours ago but I don't think I'll be getting any sleep tonight. Really wish it was already the weekend so at least I wouldn't be stressing out about work tomorrow. Fuuuck. I hate everything.

Thank you. I hate the sleep math. If I fall asleep now..I'll get 6.5 hours sleep....if I fall asleep now...5....now....4....

I went to bed early last night and still couldn't drag my ass out of bed this morning in time to catch a bus to work. Thank goodness for taxis. I think I'm going to talk to my doctor about getting another sleep study done. The last one I had done was about three years ago and my doctor at the time told me that it showed that I have mild sleep apnea but he was sure that if I lost weight that it would go away...but then he blamed EVERYTHING wrong with me on my weight, despite most of the issues being there before I gained all the weight. Including the sleep issues. I've got a doctor now that will listen to me, thankfully, so maybe this time something will actually be done! If I can get the doctor to sign off on it, my extended medical coverage will cover at least 50% of a CPAP machine and then maybe I'll actually get a decent night's sleep!

Haaaatte. Hating men and all the baggage that comes with masculinity is a good reason to try out not being a man tbh. As far as I know my partner identifies as agender for many of the same reasons. If it's something you wanna explore within yourself, go ahead! If we all had been given the info and choice and the gender binary wasn't an enforced thing, just think of how few people would actually be male or female. You really don't sound like the NotAllMen type, since you're aware of it and all, you can either own your maleness despite that and be loud about misogyny to your fellow men (within your limits and safety of course) or drop the label and own your lack of maleness.

I'm selling a few things on eBay and I think I priced everything pretty fairly. Someone made an insultingly low offer, then argued that it was all they could afford when I refused it. Which I don't doubt, but I need money too. Then they sent a crying emoji when I wouldn't budge. Not endearing.
Even if they offered my asking price right now I'd be tempted not to take it because they're annoying me so much.

If that's all you can afford then you can't have the thing. Life sucks, sorry about your luck. I get that shit every time I post something on Craigslist.

Yeah, I would for sure talk to your doc now about a new sleep study. I won't disclose my actual weight here, but let's just say it's substantial. I was diagnosed with sleep apnea this year, and the only thing my sleep specialist said was that my weight probably isn't helping, but definitely not the cause. Sleep apnea, from my understanding from him, is when the tissues in your throat collapse while you sleep causing blocked airway. Also, for some people with it, position matters. Like for me on my test, I quit breathing 15 times on my side, and 18 on my back. I hope it gets fixed for you, this shit sucks.

Black friday is grinding my gears. Shopping haul hells like these are relatively new things in here, but they've been introduced well. All city was chaos when I cycled back from work. Two poor stopped me in the way asking for money, and I just mumbled something that I don't have money either. I hugged both of then and wished them a warm winter and fled away. It's not really truth that I don't have money, but I'm living on an extremely small scholarship right now and basically doing work unpaid. I just wanted to tell those two beggars to ask money from any asshat buying their conscious off - the city centre was full of those people.

I did a sleep study and the guy in the clinic was very concerned about my "very mild" results. Worth noting, I had the flu that week. When I went to review with the doctor they were like "there's very slim to none chance you have sleep apnea". Yeah I could have told them that you start with but of course tests have to be done anyway.
