I'm reading The Girl With All The Gifts and it is amazingly good. IT'S SO GOOD! Seriously, I read it and told everybody I know who reads to read it. I recently realized that the Felix Castor series it by the same author. I was on the 3rd book before I made the connection. They're not nearly as good, but if you liked that book and books in the style of the Dresden Files they're worth checking out.

I just finished The Devil All the Time by Donald Ray Pollock and The End of Alice by A.M. Homes. Now I feel all dirty so I'm reading The Golden Compass. I want something nice and young adult-y, and I hear it's good. I got the whole trilogy for $3. :3

Finished The Fifth Season by N. K. Jemisin. I was dubious going in because it's labeled fantasy, but apparently I have ridiculous misconceptions about the whole genre. I can't wait to start the second book, but it's not due back for a couple of weeks.

I keep meaning to start her other series. I'm reading Greywalker right now. I love urban fantasy, but this one is super formulaic and the writing is mediocre. I haven't decided yet if I'm going to read the next one.

Finally reading The Hunger Games. Read the first, enjoyed it, bought another.. & then realised I was halfway through Mockingjay, not Catching Fire. Whoops.

I actually started reading it and couldn't get into it, put it down to read another book, and only went back to it because I was out of other stuff to read. Totally worth the effort though! I have a hold on book two, and was really disappointed to find out the final book isn't even out until August. I'll probably end up reading a bunch of her other works in the meantime. I tend to binge when I find an author I really like.

I loooove N.K. Jemisin. I can't wait for the third book in the Broken Earth trilogy. Right now I'm re-reading The Stormlight Archive series by Brandon Sanderson, just finished The Way of Kings and starting Words of Radiance. I'm getting really antsy for the next book.

I'm 80ish pages into Infinite Jest and I just don't know if I want to keep going. I don't mind overwritten books, but this one feels like a bit of a plod. There's a couple of plot lines I'm interested in, but I don't know if I care about a bunch of kids/young adults smoking pot and being severely depressed. The weird part is that if I had read it 20ish years ago when it first came out I think it would have touched me in a profound way.
Some of the goodread reviews of the book are like "it took me 500 pages to get into this book and then it started to click." I don't know if I have another 400ish pages of fucks to give about this book.

I watched The Girl with All the Gifts movie! It captures the spirit of the book, although it doesn't follow exactly the same plot. The author wrote it at the same time as he wrote the book. It also feels very English, at least to me as a non-english person. It's in limited release in the US but you can stream it from Amazon or youtube.

I finally finished Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro and it was a big let down after reading all the great reviews. It was so slow and the supposed dystopian twist was obvious early on and never developed any further. I almost gave up on it multiple times, and now that I made it through I kind of wish I'd spent the time doing something else.
