Hurk Oh Lish, these words you make are like poetry. +1 on the calorie dense drinks. Even if you're able to consume solid meals, drink calories during the day too. As much as sugars and fats get a bad rap in the diet industry, they're actually quite good for you, so try not to hyper-obsessively balance macronutrients. It's all shit your body needs to make it work right, and if it's easier to eat calories made up of sugar and fat then go for it. I just googled what's macronutrients, that's very interesting, I didn't know that those types of foods were called that. The approach my doc has taken is more get calories in, as long as your stomach isn't pissed and you don't feel like you're going to faint keep eating it lol. I do try to eat high fat foods, just not greasy or fried because they hurt me, I can't do sugary stuff too well either because it upsets my stomach. I really like the trail mix idea, I'm going to buy a load of nuts, dried fruit, and chocolate chips. Maybe some beef jerky too. I'm supposed to eat at minimum 1500 calories a day in an attempt to maintain my weight and keep it from plummeting, it's not much and even that's a struggle most days. Thanks so much for the suggestions, I really appreciate it. <3

Hurk Oh Lish, these words you make are like poetry. it's a gift. I'm supposed to eat at minimum 1500 calories a day in an attempt to maintain my weight and keep it from plummeting, it's not much and even that's a struggle most days. :( Thanks so much for the suggestions, I really appreciate it. <3 it's a lot easier to face the day when you start out chugging 400 calories over a few minutes - even the mental side of "okay that's a good start, i don't HAVE to eat anything for a few hours now" can take the pressure off enough that you CAN eat something.

Agreed on the drinks. Protein shakes were a lifesaver when I had Lyme disease and was too tired to eat, let alone cook.

If you have a blender, I'd recommend plant based protein you can prepare yourself for your protein smoothies/shakes as it's easier on your stomach/digestion. Vega One powder (no added sugars) is tasty, especially if you add nut butter and banana for bonus yummy calories. Or yogurt!
For savory foods, I bulk everything with tahini, avocado, coconut milk. Also try to get some omegas in you. Salmon, if you eat seafood. Flax oil mixed into soup or hummus etc, if you don't. Curry is usually my go to bulking food because I can prep a big pot full for the week and load it full of so much good stuff without it feeling really exhausting/heavy to eat. The spices are also super healthy and oddly comforting on my easily upset stomach.

I've not been keeping up with exercise much, but since starting my cafe job in November I've lost a bit of weight just cause it's so intense and active. I haven't measured my chest yet for an updated measurement, but today I tried on one of my old binders that was given to me that was always just a bit too small. It's a gc2b medium, but way tighter than my other medium at the time. The one I wear everyday at the moment is a gc2b large, which bound tighter than my stretched out medium at that time. Now after about 8 months of everyday wear + gradual weight gain it's pretty loose but still the best I had. The medium fits now! Still pretty snug, I wouldn't go to work in it yet, but I'm proud of being able to fit! Gratuitous comparison pictures of the old and new: (large half tank - loose from wear) (medium half tank - fairly unworn)

I was sick for more than a week and hardly ate anything. When I felt better, I ate again, but wanted to keep eating like, a smaller amount and not a bunch that made me feel too full and awful like I usually to. I've been having slim fast a lot, and my solid meals have been fairly conservative, and its paid off!! It's a NSV (non scale victory) but i fit into a men's large jacket instead of an xtra large when I was looking at the clearance racks tonight. I'm so excited!

For those who were talking about smoothies, can I post my post-workout for today? It was pretty great, and a bit unusual, and I liked it so I want to share ^_^
- a bunch of ice cubes - flesh of 1 whole mango - flesh of 1 whole lime - 1/2 a small cucumber - 1/4 an avocado - 1 tablespoon honey - 1 tablespoon tahini - 2 tablespoons unflavoured rice protein - 1 tablespoon chia seeds - 1 teaspoon maca powder - 1/2 teaspoon turmeric - generous crack of black pepper - a few fresh mint leaves - fill to ~600mL with coconut water
I dunno what the actual nutrition content of that was, but I feel like it was good. And a fair load of calories in the bargain.

i'm back at it as well, and i'm feeling pretty optimistic about my chances of success this time. I just finished a fairly light chest day with my best friend and i'm actually looking forward to going to the gym again tomorrow. i need to go grocery shopping and get some actual good food though, which means i actually need to start cooking and stuff. but it'll be worth it.

I finally set up my bench/rack and started lifting about a week ago. I hadn't lifted in about six months so I was expecting to struggle a lot, but my numbers are about to pass where I was six months ago. I was so concerned about my squat and deadlift form, but I was able to take videos of myself and improve them, and all my lifts feel great now! I'm super stoked to get stronger.
ETA: I also haven't drank soda or eaten fast food in over a week now. It was almost daily before, and I haven't had any cravings, so that's good.

I just started following a keto diet. It's only the third day of eating this way for me but so far, so good! So much deliciousness, and it's easier to eat out than I thought it would be. I'm really optimistic about this way of eating, after seeing Ashley and Sam (who I don't think joined this forum?) and some other people have good success with it.
