I started this scarf in December last year, worked on and off, mostly at work, and it's finally done. I got extremely sick of seeing this on my needles. I'm excited to finally be able to wear it. (Edit: spoilered for huge pics)

it's utterly beautiful, but it's breaking my brain. you... knitted that? did you use, like, actual 16ga needles? it's so finely detailed & perfect that i'm actually confused that it wasn't loomed by machine. but you said 'your needles' & i know you knit, so the question is how?!#?! @_@
tl;dr: please take this as a compliment. :)

Thank you 3.25mm needles, which is why it took forever. I wish I had (and knew how to properly use) a knitting machine. A friend had a rickety old one when we were teenagers but we never used it much. My whole house would be covered in knitting.

please quantify forever, because otherwise i'm taking that literally, & i don't think my brain can stand the stress of contemplating eternity tonight

My Ravelry notes show that I started on December 14th. I have a jumper and a DS case that I started during that time too which I can devote some more time to now.

I started crocheting my husband a blanket two years ago and it’s still nowhere near done. I’m terrible about working on it. Your work is absolutely beautiful and perfect and amazing, and I hope you are appropriately proud of yourself.

Thanks everyone! I promise I'm not especially speedy, I've just had a decent amount of spare time at work lately and I spend a lot of it knitting. I saw someone in the pattern page finish this same scarf in 3 weeks which is insane to me. kelsey18 I'm assuming you knit English style (throwing the yarn while holding it in your right hand)? If you can teach yourself to knit continental style it makes knitting sooo much quicker. I've never been able to master it, but that's one way to speed it up.

My mom can knit continental and it's so strange to me! She says she can't teach me because she can't explain it, she just does it. So weird.

I've made quite a bit of progress since the last time I posted my NES SAL. Only two more rows! I already gridded out the final 8 blocks.

I bought this yarn at a wool festival sometime last summer. Figured I should finally unwind it. It's gigantic - 925 yards - and I don't have a swift or ball winder. It took me TWO HOURS to unwind and my nails were stained pink afterwards. I kind of don't even like the colours that much anymore. I bought some teal coloured wool during KnitPicks' sale yesterday to go with it, I was planning on making a granny triangle scarf like this, alternating the colours. Hopefully I like it more once it's made up into something.

I switched to a minty green instead of the teal on my order. I still don't LOVE the colours but I like it a lot more than just the red/brown.

Trrriple post! (also, huge pics, sorry for those not on mobile) (Edit: spoilered for huge pics)After hand winding that yarn a couple of posts back, I sucked it up and bought a swift and ball winder. I wound 7 of these 210 yard Rios skeins in 35 minutes, instead of 45 minutes each by hand that it would normally take. After the birds left me last summer, I bought that yarn to make a robin-themed hat, and I finally got around to making it. And don't have a stroke, Lish, but I started that hat yesterday afternoon.

Our local cinema has recliner seats so I get to stretch my legs out, but they always have the A/C blasting so my feet freeze, and I hate wearing socks. So I made a little lap blanket to take with me. Spoilered because the pictures are huge.
