ll to have totally solid backgrounds, though, which sounds boring as fuck to stitch. XD There are a couple people who have already completed that filled in the backgrounds entirely! I've considered it, but I want to get all the basic squares done and see how much thread (and energy) I have left. They look sooooooo nice filled in though, especially the Dr. Mario one I haven't stitched yet.

Finally got around to learning magic loop and seamless toe cast ons AND realised you can just use 3 DPNs total for knitting in the round instead of 3 + a 4th to knit with. I feel like I should have realised that a long time ago. I placed a huge Knit Picks order today, a bunch of sock yarn so I can try knitting two socks at once, and a load of cheap worsted acrylic for xmas hat knitting. And I'm finally using up some rainbow Felici that's been in my stash for years and recycled through at least two other abandoned projects. I hardly even wear socks. I'll probably be gifting a lot of socks soon.

Hi people! So I have a vegan leather jacket that I adore & have worn for years. Since I lost weight it's got more of an oversized look to it (usually not how i like to look at work) so I bought a size down & have this one left. It's beautiful still and nobody I know wants it so I think I'm gonna customise, but trying to decide what I want to do with it: embroider by hand or see whether it can be embossed or paint or? Has anyone done anything similar?

old vegan leather tends to degrade in my experience. i wouldn't embroider or emboss it for fear of it becoming weaker even faster.
i expect you can use acrylic on it as easily as i did my not-vegan leather jacket, which i'm not particularly careful with but has barely lost a speck since i painted it in 2001.
check for places where it folds over onto the inside, probably at the back hem, & use that space for testing.

I work with leather and did vegan leather projects for friends. Everything lish said is accurate. Vegan leather is too weak to hold up longterm to any real embroidering. Paint will work great though. You can also use paint meant for leather, Tandy Leather has a good variety but I'm not sure where they ship to.

Good thing I just got a denim jacket then - I'll embroider that instead. I'll look into paint projects though. And I'll keep asking and see if any local vegans want to take it off my hands too. Thanks you two!

I stitched the logo for my favorite local taphouse and framed it yesterday. Gifted it to the owner last night and he loved it! Also I came up with a way to "sign" my work without stitching my initials in the piece somewhere which I think is kinda cheesy/disatracting. I had a rubber stamp made with my name on it to "stamp" on the back of the frame. I also got a roll of round blank labels so if the frame is too dark, I can just throw a sticker on it. It's small enough that it doesn't seem super intrusive

I have this pair of old jeans that i drew spiderwebs on but they always washed off (i tried markers, acrylic paint, and fabric paint), so I've decided to stitch them on with embroidery thread. Originally i was just gonna do backstitch in lines but then i found this cosplay hack of using puff paint underneath to make satin stitch (?) look better so decided to do that. Bought puff paint drew the webs started embroidering...ive never embroidered before and i may have underestimated how long it takes ._. I will get it done and it will look cool...just might take a while. And a lot of thread and puff paint.

Caron came out with a collaboration with Pantone and I’m obsessed with the line. They come in “braids” with like 5 mini skeins and they’re all curated color palettes (and a few solid sets too) and I’ve bought 3 different braids and I’m almost done with a fair isle hat. I also think I want to make this shawl but not in a blue palette www.yarnspirations.com/on/demandware.static/-/Sites-master-catalog-spinrite/default/dw79adaf03/PDF/CAK0126-011768M.pdfThe yarnspirations website has this color play tool where you can switch between the palettes and move colors around but it’s not v true to color on my phone at least. BUT since I stare at the yarn at least once a day I have a p good idea of the colors

I haven't cross stitched in months but picked it back up to make a Christmas gift. Now to finish the SALs I started... I've been looking at some of the upcoming 2019 SALs and there aren't really any I love

I bought some cotton lace. I have a skirt I love but it's not long enough, this will add about 9cm and then I'm going to wear the crap out of it. I finally got around to getting this done! I'm so happy with how it turned out.

I think I mentioned this is another thread, but I created a local facebook group for cross stitchers in my area based off one of the larger groups. I got about 20 members who were interested in joining. I hosted our first meetup yesterday! I was soooo nervous nobody would show up at all but two lovely ladies came. We drank wine and stitched and chatted for a few hours and it was fucking awesome. I can't wait to do it again!
