I went with my aunt yesterday to Books by the Pound (I think it's local only? It's a used bookstore that sells the books literally at a price per pound). We were getting children's books for my cousin's baby shower that's coming up in May. My aunt got a 10% discount for being a retired teacher and the guy working there was so nice, he gave me her discount, too. She got at least a dozen books for $24. I got 4 books for $9 and I'm stoked to be giving my cousin a Franklin the Turtle book for the baby. Where is this place???

I think it was right off Riverside Pkwy. The highest price they charge is $4.99 a pound, but certain types of books are 99 cents or $2-4 a pound. They have a lot of kids books and fiction and stuff. There's even a vintage book section.

Currently drinking a latte that I made at home with my Nespresso machine instead of going to a cafe.

I ordered a bunch of dog toys and chews and stacked a "first time order" discount with a "subscribe to autoship" discount (which I'll cancel as soon as it gets here). Turned my $90 order into a $50 order, and I'm stocked up on dog stuff for the next six months.

bought a new bathing suit from torrid. The top was OG $60 and bottons were $70. there was a sale, and then I signed up for their loyalty program so both pieces ended up being under $70

i bought a couple pieces of new luggage yesterday - i've been needing four-wheeled pieces because my back is too shitty to keep dragging around the two-wheeled stuff i have. i found matching carry-on & medium-size spinners, both pieces on sale, & one with a single-strand defect for which target gave me ten percent off (& it has a five year warranty, so i can get a free replacement if it becomes a real issue). :)
much more excited about south africa & swaziland next month, now that i won't have to hurt so much.

Planned a trip to Walmart today to buy a zip-around wallet big enough to hold my checkbook and ledger now that I need to have them with me. I also wanted to check availability on king-size fitted sheets; on the Walmart website they're around $15, but they don't always have much selection at my local store. We hit a thrift store first on the hunt for a green pickup truck for the kid. I decided to look for the stuff I wanted at Walmart there, and found two very clean white cotton king fitted sheets for $4 apiece and a full cotton king set for $10 in a color I love so much I don't even care that I won't use the flat sheet. I also found this exact wallet in like-new condition; it's absolutely perfect and much better than anything I could have found at Walmart. It was fifty cents. So today I spent less than $20 on three king sheets and a wallet instead of $65 or more (^___^)

Can't edit my post, so: Haha never mind, the beautiful sheet set that was labeled king ended up being queen instead *eyeroll* Hopefully I can get my $10 back!

I'd been putting money aside to buy a new jacket and when I went to buy it, it happened to be on clearance AND the exchange rate on the EU site wasn't accurate so I paid in pounds instead of euro and saved €132 in total.
I got the last one in my size too, which makes it even more satisfying.

I needed a desk for school stuff, but it didn't have to be anything fancy or especially attractive. I scoped out the place that resells furniture and such from state agencies and found a perfectly serviceable sturdy desk for $5. I also grabbed a small filing cabinet for $10. I'll use some of the money I saved getting a nice, comfortable chair.

Returned a laptop and tablet I bought yesterday so ended up not needing to buy cases and accessories for those items.
