well i thought it was the starter since the car otherwise has power, but my mechanic called back to say my symptoms are definitely a battery issue. & the battery i bought from him fifteen months ago is still in warranty! so the "fuck, i have to pay for a flatbed truck to tow the poor dead thing & then who knows how much for a new starter & labor" turned into "i only have to pay for an uber to go pick up a new battery, drop it in, & should be good to go!" :D
(of course, i then learned that car batteries are like forty pounds, which is nearly half my body weight, but my friend paul is coming with me to be the muscle. ^_^)

i bought fancy rinseless car wash stuff that amazon shipped with no packaging, so it leaked in the box. i reported it as missing/defective & asked for a partial refund, but their automated system refunded the full amount without a need to return the product. :)

I didn’t buy more flowers for my wedding Saturday because I need to double check what I have. However I DID buy Ruby a no pull harness, a “just in case” muzzle for the kennel and maybe playing with my sister’s pup, and a new toy that she won’t put down.

I adopted a bunch of plants from my MIL’s house. I might even already have a hanging basket for the mistletoe cactus. Another appears to be something like a pothos. We’ll see!

Two springs in our couch snapped, which I assumed means it's done for. Instead of buying a new couch, my husband watched a couple of videos, spent $12 on new springs, and fixed it!

I made enough cash decluttering my house and selling on FB/Craigslist that I didn't need to go out of pocket for any of the Earnest/Option money on buying my new house.

that new snake tank i bought online for $290 flat (normally $350 plus tax+shipping) gave me "reward points" of $10. i went to a brick&mortar store to redeem that on a new water bowl & a fake plant since both items needed to be chosen in person. the cashier had trouble finding the rewards & had to call customer service; since i had to wait ten minutes while they did that, he proactively discounted the bowl at half off, making it $12.50.
so i've spent about $300 instead of $520 on this upgrade so far. notbad.jpg

i spent $30 on a replacement battery for my standalone GPS because it said it came with EVERYTHING needed to replace the battery. of course it didn't - soldering sure is a requirement, but there wasn't a soldering iron & solder in the package. they misset my expectations, so i asked for a full refund including my original shipping. i received a non-prepaid RMA, & replied again that i need a FULL refund or i'll dispute with my credit card company. that did it - the seller rolled over & gave me my full refund without a return (rather than pay shipping himself), so i guess i didn't spend $30 today. :) my closest friend with soldering skills lives about a half hour away, & agreed to meet up this weekend to solder it for me.
i was going to leave a 1 star review with details, but can't bring myself to since i still get to repair my device, just not in the 5 easy minutes i expected. i suggested the seller update their listing to avoid this problem going forward.

My grocery store is having one of those complicated "mix and match a certain number of qualifying items and get a discount on your total purchase" promotions that I usually ignore, but for whatever reason this time it applied to a ton of stuff I buy. Between a carefully curated list and a few digital coupons, I restocked a ton of my pantry staples and saved $25 on a $100 total. Other than grabbing some fresh produce here and there, I shouldn't have to grocery shop for at least a couple of weeks.

I fixed up a battery issue on my computer, where it said 'plugged in, not charging' and I managed to get the back open and reset it. I always have a fear of messing up tech by trying to fix it myself but it worked really well.
I've also learned how to properly darn holes, and I've been darning the rubbed-thigh holes in my trousers and so far their life has been prolonged several times over the last couple months

Yeah, whenever I try to fix a computer issue I always have this xkcd in the back of my mind. ;P Aw yess! My partner loves xkcd! I always think about the iFixit repair manifesto: if you can't fix it, you don't own it Although I'm sad to report the issue is back already, I'll fix it again at some point but hopefully I'll be able to avoid buying a new battery
