Laundry is always one of my biggest issues! I have a teeny tiny closet (literally 2.5ft by 2.5ft) that simply can't contain all my clothes, and I tend to suck at folding and putting things away. This means I've always got clothes all over the place and have to search for things other than my work uniforms (that stuff gets hung up on the back of my door to keep it out of the clutter). It also means that I sometimes find myself having to rewash stuff because one of the things my cats love to do when they are angry at me for something (such as allowing them to see the bottom of one of their food dishes for too long) is pee on anything on the floor. At this point the plan is to just put shelves into the joke of a closet I've got so I can store my craft and office supplies in there, and then finally set up the portable wardrobe thingy I bought ages ago to put all my clothing into, and giving my dresser to my kid.

Since we got a dryer the only thing that's changed is that the piles of clothes that are in literally every corner of my home are all clean instead of dirty. I have got to come up with a better system and actually follow through.

Laundry is a huge problem for us, too. Piles if clean clothes, two hampers doll of clean clothes, dryer still full of clean clothes. I def need to go through my clothes and just get rid of half of them because I don't even wear this many.

Laundry is one thing I'm actually good at. We have free electricity on the weekends, so I have a designated laundry day on Saturday to run the dryer as many times as it takes and Sunday for anything that may be left over (usually towels, sheets, etc.) Everything is washed Saturday and put up Sunday.
I do have an issue though with finding space for my clothes, specifically my shirts. I have to clean out my closet because I have SO MANY shirts I don't or can't wear anymore, that I can barely fit hangers on the rail. Clothes are like the one thing I hoard because if it doesn't fit now IT MIGHT SOMEDAY and ugh. It's hard because my weight has yo-yo'd so much in the past few years. I have more bins of clothes I haven't worn for years in my garage than I would like to admit. I really want to sort through them at some point in the next few months and do a major clean out.

i don't wanna take up space w/ a dresser so i keep my clothes in stacked milk crates in the closet, and i have one of those hanging organizer thingies next to it. i like how little space it takes up, but the problem is that keeping clothes in milk crates requires pulling the crate out and putting it back, and i am lazy. i do the konmari folding thing so i can fit more in the crates & see what's what at a glance. of course, this all assumes that the clothes have been put away and are not sitting in a pile in my clean laundry basket. i also keep a bunch of stuff in these crates (which i may or may not have liberated from a circle k). all of my jackets and sweaters and scarves live in one of those since you can only wear them like 2 weeks a year here.

I know I posted like a month ago that I was doing so well, but I realized that the things I decluttered and makeup I finished were still in my house, just in a different place. As though I'd magically become the kind of person to take empties photos/videos.
Now my trash has been thrown out. As it should be.

Sorry for the dark picture, but I cleaned out my underwear drawer finally. I threw away about 25 pairs and sorted & folded the rest. I couldn't even open the drawer before, and it was so bad that some were getting caught and stuffed into my sock drawer below. I'd like to have better dividers long term, but the shoebox works for now. Random items found in the drawer: -One incense cone -2 Hangers (not full size hangers, but this type, still ridiculous -Skein of red embroidery floss -3 of my husbands socks -Expired bottle of liquid bandage -Numerous cardboard clothing tags

What started as just putting up two more floating shelves for my pop figures turned into an entire afternoon/evening of picking up, putting away, reorganizing and decluttering most of my apartment. All of my books are accessible now, craft supplies are organized and contained in something other than plastic bags, and most of the flat surfaces that were catch-alls for everything are cleared! It'll be nice to come home and not see piles in every corner.

I rented a pickup truck tomorrow to use for a city-wide recycling event. Going to get rid of lots of large tree limbs from the yard, a rotting wood pile that's no longer usable, and a lot of junk in my garage. Super excited to get stuff cleaned out!

Cleaned out a ton of stuff Saturday, one truck full of yard waste, then another truck full of junk from the garage. A lot of old boxes that were too big to fit in the recycling bin, two twin box springs, old pet stairs that were broken, a few small appliances, and a bunch of other stuff. I have a bad habit of hanging on to product boxes after I buy things, so I also went through and threw away: two GPS boxes, three digital camera boxes, two iphone boxes, two samsung phone boxes, drill box, lamp box, hard drive box, and some others. My recycling bin looks like I robbed a late 2000's Best Buy delivery truck.
The big one is clothes. I've size bounced so much in the past 15 years that it's been really hard for me to part with clothes. I have an embarrassing amount of clothes stored away in my garage, including stuff I wore in high school that I haven't been able to get rid of "because it might fit some day". Except most of it's juniors clothes which I can't really wear, or the elastic is broken down, etc. So I cleaned out 5 totes and two trash bags full of clothes. Filled 6 jumbo trash bags full of stuff to donate, plus threw away a good amount of stuff (at least two trash bags) that was too far gone to donate. I found some sweaters that actually fit me now that I washed and added into my closet, but I still have at least one tote of stuff that I can't part with yet. Mostly jeans or dress pants that I'd love to wear again if I lose another ~20 lbs. I have at least one more box of clothes in the garage to go through and trash or donate, then I need to try and pair down my "keep" pile. I want to put a deadline on the box, like if I don't open it by this time next year (or 6 months, or whatever) that I will just donate the whole thing without trying to go through it again.
Oh! We also went through all our medications and came up with two stuffed gallon sized ziploc bags of expired/not needed medications to get rid of. There's a hazardous waste program in my city that will take them and dispose of properly. I have a ton of paint in the garage to bring them too, so I figured I would do them both at once. I'm hoping to get them brought over there this week to get it all out of the house.
Next steps: Go through boxes of kitchen stuff that got put in the garage years ago and never cleaned out, try to sell big items in the garage we don't need (like a drunk purchase starwars foosball table), take down wall shelves that are barely attached to the wall and replace with free standing shelving units. FIND THE FUCKING BIN OF HALLOWEEN DECORATIONS THAT IS MISSING.
I also want to go through my linen closet and get rid of a lot of old blankets and curtains that I have no idea why I'm saving and donate what I can of those to the animal shelter. I am kinda considering just taking a week off from work to dedicate cleaning shit out, I'm super motivated right now. My husband and I have been casually considering moving out of state at some point in the future and were talking about what furniture and stuff we would absolutely want to keep and bring with us, and it made me really realize that I'm not attached to a lot of the stuff in my house.

Wooo Ashley! Great job! I still have to go through my clothes which is 90% tee shirts. I save everything too, "just in case" I might need it someday. Letting go of a lot of it feels really good.

Thanks, it feels sooooo good to let stuff go. My dad is a hoarder (like 37 VCR's and no walking path in his apartment level hoarder) and I definitely don't want to end up like that. Sometimes I see myself saving things just for the sake of saving them? Like when we did the cleanup over the weekend I threw away 4 broken swiffers. FOUR. Why the fuck does anyone even need ONE broken swiffer? Or a broken anything? And the sad thing is that some of those were in my garage for 5ish years just taking up space.
I am trying to also get rid of stuff that I am "eh" about. I have some wall decor in my bedroom I'm not in love with, and I keep looking at it thinking, why do I still have this? Meanwhile I have some stuff I love in my office that I never get to see because I don't spend time in there unless I'm sewing, so I want to move things around in addition to cleaning stuff out. Aaaaaaand I just requested next week off from work so I can hopefully work on the house. I have a crapload of time off to use by the end of the year anyway, so it will be well spent. I hope it gets approved, I'm pretty excited about being able to spend time organizing. Edit: Time off was just approved! Woohoo

Nice! I've finally gone through my shirts, and while I still have a lot, I'm getting rid of a bunch too and some are getting redone as crop tops and such. I'm so close to feeling done with reorganizing the apartment and I'm relieved to not feel embarrassed to have people over

I still need to go through my clothes to get rid of stuff, but I'm glad we at least mostly cleared up the living room.
