hi folks! anyone want to talk about skincare? i've become a total skoah slut. i found them when they went on a spree to give away $85 facials to new customers a few years back; it was the best job anyone had done on me since the $250 super fancy facial i had in new zealand. i'm in their skincare club, but my wonderful favorite woman recently quit, & i've been struggling to find a replacement on their staff, so i've taken to buying their products & doing the work myself. i have a date saturday, so tonight's facial is all-out: 1. scrub - this is the most perfect scrub. i find their facial scrub too gentle, so i use this on my face too. 2. cleanser - had mail-ordered this after my NZ facial as it's what they used, & i have plenty left so i haven't switched out to skoah yet. i use skoah's charcoal cleanser when needed though. 3. glow tonic - exfoliating toner 4. AHA mask - alpha hydroxy for exfoliation 5. clarity mask - targeted use for blemishes 6. hydradew mask - this mask smells amazing & hydrates wonderfully. 7. skin boost serum - peptides & such. the other serums are too heavy for me, but this one's great. 8. moisturizer - ditto step 2. it's very nice. 9. lip balm - also full of peptides. this stuff & the mint tubes they give at facials are spectacular. (the tube with sunblock is terrible though.) what're your favorite facial products?

I have nice skin but I'm lazy and I don't moisturize enough in the winter, so I've recently decided to do more. Especially since I don't wear makeup, I feel like putting a little extra effort into my skin is a nice way to pamper and take care of myself in lieu of makeup rituals. Lately I've been washing twice a day with this Alba Botanical cleanser and applying a very sparse amount of this Jason vitamin E oil, which is light and doesn't seem to be clogging my pores. Three times a week or so I'll put some mask over my nose and chin areas - anything that says it's for clearing pores and is cheap, just to try to keep the worst of my blackheads at bay. I'd like to try more pore-clearing products in the future; eventually I want to try the three-step Tony Moly strawberry pore strip system, and anything charcoal-based is on my list too. Anybody have any miracle pore-clearing products - masks, strips, etc. - that aren't too expensive, or if they are, are insanely worth it/last a long time?

Saw the title and then read the first post: I have shit skin. I am plagued by plaque psoriasis and cystic acne and have significant scarring on my face from chicken pox/burns from laser treatments. It's sensitive as fuck, too, and I frequently get rashes because it's Thursday and fuck me (and double fuck my boyfriend's sister for insisting on using fabric softener ON EVERYTHING when she knows it gives me hives). Anywho. The best investment I've ever made skin-wise is a Clarisonic. I hate how expensive the brush heads are but it has drastically improve the texture of my face skin over the last two or so I've been using it. Tried a few different off-brand ones and they just didn't get it done. Also, no more blackheads, which is nice. Usual routine: 1. Cleanser: I like that it warms up a bit as you use it. +1 that the dispenser actually totally empties the bottle. 2A. Toner (normal days): Bottle lasts forever. Smells a bit funky, but it goes away quickly and is very light. 2B. Moisturizer (not normal days): My skin randomly freaks out and goes so dry my nostrils split so it needs more help sometimes. Bottle lasts forever since I don't use it all the time. Super hydrating, absorbs quickly, and works really well under makeup. 3. Masks: I alternate between Irish Moor Mud (irritation issues) and Korean snail masks (dryness issues that my friend grabbed for me when she was on holiday. I don't know who makes the Korean masks because there is no English on the packaging, but they smell divine and they do an awesome job hydrating/firming while the mud mask knocks down redness issues. 4A. Face Sunscreen: Works like a charm, doesn't smell like sunscreen, and no break outs. (Note: I live off of sample sizes of this, I haven't actually purchased a full-sized version.) 4B. Body sunscreen: Dries powdery with absolutely no odor. When my face gets really bad acne-wise and I have to break out the benzoyl peroxide, I can't use 2A or 2B above because the combination with the peroxide bleaches my pillowcase so I use straight sunflower oil (very sparingly).

Super relevant thread, my friend Amanda just released her own facial skincare line. She also makes bath bombs and body butter and stuff and it is amazing. When she launched yesterday I bought moisturizer, toner, and serum to try it out. Here is this link to her shop if anyone was interested.

Can I revive this thread for general advice? I recently decided to upgrade my skincare routine from nothing to something, and am wondering where everybody gets their products. Some of the things I want to try aren't available in stores near me, especially Asian products, and it seems like every Amazon listing has at least one review claiming they received counterfeit stuff. Is there another reputable online source that I don't know about?

I've heard about stylekorean.com on teh youtubez. You could search for Asian beauty haul videos and see where people get stuff. I also did a quick Google and found a subreddit that probably has recommendations: www.reddit.com/r/AsianBeauty/I also need to start doing some sort of skincare routine. Mine consists of cold cream and coconut oil, the one night a week I remember to do it. I'm starting to get little wrinkles on my forehead D:

kinda embarrassed to post this but lately i've just been using this soap and sensitive skin olay moisturizer on my face. i've used olay for FOREVER, my granny always swore by it (and still calls it "oil of olay"). i have pretty dry, sensitive skin so face masks/scrubs irritate sometimes but i tried the sheamoisture african black soap mud mask a while ago & loved it.

I started using some stuff from The Ordinary recently, and I've been having super good luck with it! It's inexpensive and not fancy, but it has good, targeted ingredients for whatever skincare concern you're trying to address. I'm particularly liking the Niacinamide 10%, Lactic Acid 10%, Advanced Retinol 2% and the Azelaic Acid. the skincareaddiction subreddit is EXTREMELY helpful!

I'm never really one to pay attention to washing my face in any way other than splashing with water every time I shower (I'm pretty fearful of getting soap on my face/in my eyes), but I had a free sample block of Lush's coalface soap hanging around that I used recently. Before I just lathered it in my hands, but this time I scrubbed the whole bar on my face, and my face suddenly looks 100% clearer and smoother! It even felt moisturised rather than squeaky, I reckon I'll be using that little sample block regularly for a while.

I've been meaning to try their products, especially since they're so reasonably priced. The niacinamide is definitely on my list to try. I've bookmarked this to read at some point so I can try and decide which products to go for, the names aren't exactly helpful in knowing what they're for and when they should be used!

I totally forgot that I posted on this thread, but thank you for the suggestions urkelgrue! I'll check those out. I've also been hearing great things about The Ordinary so I may see if I can find comparable stuff from them too. Getting things shipped from the far side of the earth takes forever anyway, although I did get some fantastic sunscreen that I'm about to reorder in bulk.

I'm mainly focused on texture, fading old acne marks, and preventing new acne, which a side of some antiaging stuff

I tried that skin gritting thing that was all over the blogs a minute ago and it's magic. I don't do the whole routine everyday but I do the oil massages everyday and I am amazed that it's working for my normally super oily skin. I've been using the Damascus rose oil from Badger and Young Luv by Rejjie Snow (because if a rapper is making a face oil I have to try it)

I'm curious if anyone here uses natural oils for their oily acne prone skin? What's the best oils you've had experience with?
