I'd love to exercise to some degree, but because I now have a diagnosis of meniscus tearing I can't do anything that puts physical strain on that area until I know more about what my Dr is going to opt to do about it.

We have a pull up bar that the previous owners installed in the garage. a) I'm two feet too short to reach it, b) I'm fat as shit and would break my own arms, and c) I don't think the attic beams were designed for that level of stress. I totally want to be able to do pull ups though. I want to be strong as an ox and twice as handsome. I need to start doing wall push ups or something each day to start.
I've never been able to do a pull up in my life. Not likely to happen any time soon.

Right now anything that I need is not to lose any weight. I'm quite thin, but not by choice. I eat balanced (some days I forget to eat thou) and cycle daily to work/uni, despite the weather and season. This should keep me healthy, no?
For someone trying to optimize their food intake and exercise according to that energy as much as I do, I eat a lot of white flour buns, muffins, cake, bakery goods. This stuff. It's not a reward after going to gym or anything, it's just a precaution so that I don't lose too much weight. I always tell I eat a bun to watch my weight.
But for positive body change I want to mod myself more. I've been debating breast reduction surgery for years. The urge has somewhat neutralized and for now I'm happy just modding. But paying attention on body is often difficult.

What kind of cardio-type exercises would you guys recommend for someone wanting to get fit at home? Can't afford swimming or going to a gym (wouldn't want to be in front of people anyway) or anything that needs to be done outside.
Stuff we've done before is things like star-jumps and squats and running on the spot. Anything else more interesting or beneficial? We have a set of weights but not here right now. I want to avoid doing overly loud things like burpees cause there's people living below us.
Also tips on how to motivate when you're depressed and tired?

They have a ton of videos you can do at home without any equipment at all, and some with weights as well. They have low impact modifications for their movements also, which is what I had to do when I lived in an apartment. Sorry you're feeling down, I don't have any tips but just want to commiserate. I have been there countless times myself.

Also tips on how to motivate when you're depressed and tired? sometimes it helps to know that you don't need to be motivated to get things done. it's a kind of false logic. just do the thing you don't want to do because it has to be done, & don't worry about finding a way to WANT to do the thing you don't want to do. skip the middleman. also, recognize that getting started really is half the job done. if you can make yourself start, that's the toughest half. then the rest is just finishing it.

Wisdom, this. It's actually a concept I had to work on when I was in therapy for BPD. Emotional dysregulation is hard, but it helps to realize that sometimes feelings are totally irrelevant to the task at hand and can be overridden.

I'm learning myself lately that even if I don't wanna, I got get my ass up and do it anyway regardless of my feelings or it'll never be done. I face lack of motivation from depression and such so often that if I didn't push myself, I'd be a lazy blob in the corner lol.

I feel your pain. fwiw, surgery will probably be the best bet to trim it up and prevent more tearing. that part of surgery isn't bad at all, unless there's something else they want to do, like a lateral release. If I remember right you mentioned you have other issues with it as well?

I also have a cyst there as well according to MRI. chondromalacia patellae, minor arthritis according to my orthopedic, and bad alignment with my kneecap (it's more to the left) according to Physical Therapy.

I've noticed the muscles in my arms becoming more defined again. I was really happy with my body as a whole while I worked at Menards but no job since has been quite as physically demanding. My new job has me lifting heavy parts daily and I can feel my strength improving and it excites me.

My body change is not actually my body, it's my teeth. I have a severe overbite and missing teeth and crooked teeth and I wore braces as a kid but this was before permanent retainers were a thing and if anything is tenacious, it's teeth. They want to go back to where they were. Mine did. So 30 years later, I'm wearing invisible braces and I'm super excited. It's only been six months and I can see and feel huge changes. Sorry for these unflattering pictures, but I hope you all can see how much the front top teeth have become less rotated and I hope you can picture what is going to happen in the next 18 months. This is about 2 years ago and a very rare photo of me smiling with my teeth showing: This is tonight! It may not be a thunderous difference but it's early days and I can't wait to see things progress.
