My husband bought me a skein of Malabrigo Rios (love this yarn so much) for xmas, and I just finished this scarf/shawl. Pattern is "The age of brass and steam". It's just long enough now it's blocked to wrap around without feeling like it'll fall off. This is how much I had left at cast-off. I was so stressed. Before and during blocking: I'm already almost done with the same pattern in fingering weight yarn. And I'll probably be making it again in Rios but I'll use two skeins next time for a bigger scarf. That's a beautiful scarf! I love knitting but I've been lazy about learning actual skills, so all I can make is stripy scarves haha. I had to laugh at your comment about being stressed though, I've done that before and I know the feels. Nooouu I don't want to buy another ball of yarn for like thirteen stitches, just keep going dammit.

oh hi! so i've been painting a bunch lately & i thought i'd share. i forget where i left off on BAF, so i'll just start fresh here. (sorry about the photo quality of the first few; i'll retake those... sometime.) based on the idea that a "heart shape" was meant to portray two hearts together: a companion piece to the above, a portrait of the first gun i owned: this is strung through the center, so if i'm suffering depression i can hang it aimed at the heart with bullets loading it; normal life has it facing away & emptying out: Those are fantastic. I love the ribbon over the painted surface - it's a really cool juxtaposition of textures. Do you just paint for yourself, or do you sell pieces?

Do you just paint for yourself, or do you sell pieces? aww, shucks. thanks wenda. i've only done paintings for myself; i'd probably make one for a close friend's birthday or something, but i put way too many hours in to justify selling them at what people would be willing to pay.

I am so much into pastel paper lately. This is just a study of another old timey painting that was so inspiring to me. It was originally intended to be sort of monochrome and I'd just use a terracotta and white crayon besides the pencil but then I realized that I have some wax crayons and then they happened allover the drawing. It's what I love about art, it never turns out the way I mean it to.

Boyfriend collected corks for me from his job for a while and tonight I made a wreath for our apartment door. Pretty pleased with how it turned out.

I bought some mens graphic tees a couple of weeks ago and finally got around to altering them yesterday. I'm so happy with how they came out. These are so freaking flattering on you.

Made my friend a baby blankie. I'm annoyed because the yellow yarn was slightly thicker than the other colors, so the yellow circles are bigger. >:[

Ok, I don't know why I missed this at time but 1: I am seriously impressed with your alterations and 2: you look incredible! You have such an amazing figure.

My Mother's Day gift to myself was a skein of Malabrigo Sock yarn in Ivy. I wanted to remake a hat I made in a fingering weight and wanted to use this yarn, which ended up being a light fingering. I knitted almost an entire hat and had to start over because it was much too small. I also couldn't remember what size needles I used for the original hat so I had to start over, really. I made up the original pattern as I went along and used it as a rough guide for this hat - double-knit brim with a simple row of yarn-overs after joining the two edges of the brim and (for this hat) a seven-pointed decrease setup using center double decreases instead of the standard k2tog that makes a crown of swirly wedges. I like the bolder CDDs and the straight lines they make, and I love sitting down and figuring out the necessary math to make everything work out. The drape and weight of the hat is perfect and it feels right at home on my head. I still love the original hat but it's a lot more neutral (blues and browns) and I made it a touch too big so it's more slouchy. This one fits my head perfectly which makes it feel even more ~me in hat form~ and I'm absolutely thrilled with it. I'm also really proud that I made up the pattern and it's unique to me. Couldn't be more pleased. Also the yarn is to die for and they have some seriously gorgeous colorways; I spent at least twenty minutes with three or four skeins in my hands going D: D: D: D: D: D: D: D:

I made a weighted blanket today using rice and clearance bin fabric.
Why did I not do this sooner? It's amazing.
