Posted this in the old thread, but might as well ask here too.
Looking for suggestions for a stubborn septum. I stretched up to 10g in June 2015 and I still can't get 8g jewellery in there. I had been hoping to get a 9g plug to try, but they were apparently discontinued over a year ago. The advice I got when I asked about it before (about a year ago) was to just give it some more time to loosen up. However, it's been nearly 18 months at this point, so I doubt more time is going to do much good at this point. Any other suggestions?

If you're not down to have it repierced or punched at a larger size, perhaps switch to a stack of thin continuous rings for a while. It changes the shape/structure of the fistula and could help start the denting process for you.

I'm not necessarily opposed to getting it re-pierced, I just wasn't sure if there were other options that I should explore first. Maybe I should just bite the bullet and get it re-done though. Healing was a breeze last time 'round, so hopefully the larger gauge won't be that much different.

I got mine pierced at 10g and it healed like a dream. So easy.

My 8g septum piercing was one of the easiest piercings I've healed.

Septum-earskin people: what wearable length fits you? For whatever reason I have it in my head that 1/4" should fit, but I have no idea if that's reality lol. Obviously it'll vary amongst people, but if there's a trend then that'll send me in a probable direction.

Both times I've worn 1/4" and not snugly either. If you had a super thick nose I feel like your piercer would have mentioned it during the piercing. What's your healing jewellery - retainer or CBB or? If you've got a retainer the diameter on that is a good place to start.
Gear grinder: the earskin I'm wearing has a thin spot. It affects nothing and I'm not sure where my backup is, but it makes insertion and removal a bit weird feeling. I think I'm just irrationally bothered by it.

I wear 1/4, my septum is probably about 1/8 across max, so I'm pretty much always gonna need the shortest wearable on anything. I'd definitely try out a 1/4 earskin just to see, cause if it turns out you need 5/16 you'll have free reign of standard wearable earskins forever, but getting 1/4 is a bit more limited now they're discontinued

I've seen most people say 1/4" works for them, but I need 5/16", personally. The former is too tight and makes my septum feel pinched and sensitive.

I've had my septum stretched to 2g for quite a while now, at least a year, but I cannot wear earskins. They irritate my delicate-ass septum, which is weird since apparently cheap metal plugs are totally fine. But more concerning is the fact that earskins aren't strong enough to hold the stretch open, which is frustrating, since the stretch is so well healed at this point. I'm thinking my only option now is to find a no-flare steel or ti tunnel with a very small wearable and fairly smooth edges. Anyone else have this problem? I sometimes wonder if I am the only person for whom a septum piercing (not in cartilage) has been a serious pain in the neck.

I've been at a 10g for well over a year too and when I can get 8g jewerly in, after wearing it for a couple hours my septum is so tender that I neeed to take it out :c

It was the only way for me to be able to stretch my nose.

I couldn't go from 10g to 8g without a 9g plug. I had denting with the 9g, but the 8g went in super easily after that. If I had any idea where the 9g plug was I'd offer it to you, but I think it's lost

It was a bit long at 8g/6g, but a more comfortable length now, as I've used up pretty much all of that super thin septum space.
