WARNING: Gore and blood and stuff, if you're squeamish maybe dont look Hello! So, i have wanted my conches punched for a long while now, but due to (totally fair) age restrictions and money that wasn't possible... UNTIL NOW *insert dramatic music here*At the beginning of April i will be turning 18, and my dad has said he will pay for them for my birthday if i can find a place i like (which I had already done for future reference (i assumed i'd be paying though (thankyou wtfhayleygeez (idk if its rude to just call you hayley)))). The place i'll be going is called blackheartstudio, i emailed them yesterday with a few questions and they where really nice answered all my questions and said to come in for a consultation. Exited is an understatement. I'd like to get them at 8mm in an ideal world, but it seems my ears may be a little small for that, we shall see. I realize I may be making this thread a lil early, but that's because a) i'm super exited, b) i thought going from the consultation would be a good idea? Record the whole process, and c) i would love to hear from anyone who has conch punches before (and after obv) I get mine done. I've already done a butt load of research, but there's no harm in hearing even more From what i can tell, the best healing method is LIMA right? With a few sea salt soaks if its acting up and letting any blood clots come off in the shower, and keeping hair and stuff off them, correct? Is there anything I should know? I've heard some people say it's less painful than a conch PIERCING (which i have), but i doubt that and am preparing for the worst. If there's lots of blood i'll be sure to post pics in the gore thread :3

I had lots of choice words when I got my punches done! It hurt but the pain was over quickly. I got mine punched at 6g/4mm and stretched to 4g/5mm and had glass plugs as initial jewelry. It sounded like celery snapping and not a ton of blood the first few days, but I was definitely bleeding. I was traveling so I was worried I'd be mid air and have blood running down my neck. The crazy crusty thing that happened the first week was amazing and I wish all piercings did that. I've been considering having them punched larger at some point in the near future.

I had my conches pierced at 12g several years ago and it was a lot easier than the punches I got. I'm pretty sure my pierced had used a 5mm punch and tapered to 6mm and I healed them with glass plugs... if I remember right, it's been a long time lol. I do remember they hurt like fuck, definitely worse than my helix punches (which are since retired).
Healing sucked in the beginning because I got them both done in one sitting and I'm a side sleeper. I tried using an ear pillow, but it didn't help that much. I just tried to sleep on my back in the beginning until it felt okay to go back to the side.

I had mine punched at 3.5mm, and stretched immediately to 6g/4mm with glass plugs. I told my piercer I was a bleeder, so that was his suggestion to keep the bleeding to a minimum, and it definitely worked! I can honestly say the pain was WAY less than I expected. It felt really HOT when the punch went through, but it didn't hurt much more than when I had my conches pierced with a regular needle years before. The second one was a bit worse, but overall I'm glad I got them both done at once, even if it made sleeping a bit of a challenge. They healed fairly easily, and all I did was the occasional salt soak when they got throbby. M rught one has given me occasional grief, but VERY occasional. They are by far my favourite piercing!

i had mine punched at 6mm. healed with SF glass, which we flipped backwards during healing, cuz i was terrified of it falling out and wanted to be able to watch the o-ring like a hawk. it sucked but wasn't the worst thing. healing wasn't too bad, except i slept halfway sitting up in a recliner for the first couple nights cuz i'm a thrashy sleeper sometimes. finding a comfy way to sleep was the hardest part for me tbh. & you can call me hayley.

Got mine punched at 2g (6mm) around 5(?) years ago. I went in super nervous, wanting to get one side done at ~6g (I was going to stagger them so I could sleep on my side during healing), but my piercer talked me into getting both done at once at 2g. He didn't pressure me into it by any means, but it wasn't my original plan -- I was just wimping out because of fear. It taught me a valuable lesson: don't let the fear of pain keep you from getting a piercing/other modification! Just let the pain happen. It's never as bad as you think it'll be.
He also told me right off the bat that I was expected to eat the ear chunks -- it's a belief of his that you shouldn't throw out a part of your body or something like that. I was down, but he told me immediately, which suggested to me that maybe some people wouldn't be willing? I dunno. He recommended either 2g or 0g, and at the time I was so freaked out I chose 2g, but in retrospect I would've chosen 0g. I think they would just look nicer. Anyway, the pain wasn't so bad. I don't even remember it, really. After the punches were done he gave me a cup of water with the ear bits so I could swallow them like aspirin, but I ended up chewing them a little just out of curiosity. They were really cold, as I recall. The punches bled A LOT the first few days. I woke up every day with big crusty bloody messes on each ear. I did two sea salt soaks a day for the first week or two, but then relaxed into a LIMA method. After the first few days, they didn't give me any trouble. I still love them!

I had mine punched at 4g, six months apart. I recently gave up on the right one.
What I will say is, listen to your body, try to sleep on your back, and don't switch to KAOS until they've both been healed for like two years. I slept in KAOS, my ear spit it out while I was asleep and that's when I started having all kinds of issues.

Im so glad this thread got started! I've wanted at least 1 conch punch for quite a while and am very interested in the healing process. The gorey pics are a plus haha. Unfortunately I don't think it's a common procedure where I'm currently located so it's a back burner idea right now.

I actually decided to retire my left one too. I may get them repunched later.
To be clear, my piercer did a fine job, I just thrash in my sleep and scar easily and phave issues with picking.

I still don't get the punch eating thing. It just kinda skeeves me out and if you eat them, won't the body just break them down anyway? Not super different from discarding them imo. It was fun to see them, but I'm not here for eating myself.

Piercers that refuse to do punches unless you eat them are dirtbags. That shit is fucking grody.

So many replies i feel loved I'm glad people are exited for the threat - so am i aha ^_^
So, is it more common for it to be punched then tapered, or just punched? Does it make a difference with the healing? I'm not particularly bothered about blood (if anything i WANT to bleed a lot so i have better pictures to show people X) ) cause the studio is like 30 mins on a bad day from my house, and then i can just chill at home till it sorts itself out. I'm also not worried about pain, i just wanted to see if the piercing/punch thing was true, as it did seem a bit odd honestly i'll forget about how it felt in a few months so it's no biggie. The celery snap does sound like it might weird me out though X) then again, i was told that about the piercing and don't remember anything like that, not saying it didn't happen but i think my mind was elsewhere I'm usually a side sleeper but i can sleep on my back when necessary, is that conciderably better? I was planning on getting one of those car head pillow things, but if they dont work i won't bother and i'll just buy a normal pillow (so that i can bleed on it without worrying )Is it better to get them one at a time or both at once? I was hoping to get them both at once, even if its a bit more effort, but if its better to get them individually/my piercer advises otherwise, then i'll get them seperately. I assume i'll be getting glass jewellery? I'm not sure, when i asked the price (which i wont say here, thats considered impolite correct?) he gave me a bracket and said it depends on the jewellery, i'll probably be getting whatevers cheapest because it IS present and i don't wanna make my dad feel bad if he cant afford the jewellery i like, and i know the piercer wouldn't put junk in my ears. Also, the eating thing, i've heard about that and im honestly idk, it seems a bit grim. Firstly i'm veggie, and i know its only such a small amount and no-one was hurt without asking for it, but i haven't eaten any meat at all for 3 years, it'd be a bit strange. Also, most meat people do eat is muscle, whereas this is just cartilage and skin...then eating them raw is a whole other thing X) if the piercer really wanted me to i might, though i agree forcing someone to does seem a lil messed up i'm glad i got the healing method mostly right, and i'll stay away from KAOS for a while after i get them done. I haven't gone to the consultation yet because my dad wants to be there (since he's paying) and he's been working, but i'll obviously update you when i do. Also sorry i wrote so much
